Hannah Waddingham stunned as she reacts to “incredible unexpected honour”

Hannah Waddingham has been left stunned after being honoured with a Barbie doll.

The star earned the title of ‘Role Model’ from the toy manufacturer, in recognition not only of the on-screen camaraderie between their characters Rebecca and Keeley but also of the strong friendship that exists between them off-set, as demonstrated by their co-star Juno Temple.

Leading up to International Women’s Day on March 8, Barbie is emphasizing female friendships through a series that also recognizes Olympians Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey, tennis stars Evonne Goolagong Cawley and Ash Barty, and disability advocates Paola Antonini and Kelen Ferreira. In simpler terms, the Barbie series is focusing on women’s friendships and showcasing women like Olympian Jordan Chiles, tennis star Ash Barty, etc., as we approach International Women’s Day on March 8.

Hannah expressed her delight in a statement, saying that being chosen as a ‘Barbie Role Model’ was an amazing, unanticipated recognition.

I find it hard to grasp, but incredibly exciting! Sharing such a unique experience with a woman who embodies love, support, and constant encouragement makes it absolutely ideal for me!

The actress expressed that her bond with Juno has remained steadfast, authentic, and perfectly fitting ever since we first crossed paths, and it remains the most delightful present both on set, within our profession, and above all, in our everyday lives.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited about these dolls, as I believe they’ll serve as a beacon representing and honoring various types of friendships among women – not just the glamorous moments, but crucially, the everyday ones where you need love, resilience, and support the most.

Hannah’s doll mirrors the style of the red dress she wore at the SAG Awards last year, whereas Juno’s doll is based on the outfit she wore at the Emmys in 2024.

The Keeley actor expressed that it was genuinely hard to find the right words to convey how significant this moment is, and furthermore, she described it as exceptionally unique.

Speaking as a fervent admirer, let me share a profound insight I’ve come across: “One of the most empowering resources for any young lady is the unwavering backing and inspiration from her fellow peers,” was emphasized by none other than Krista Berger, the Senior Vice President of Barbie and the Global Head of Dolls at Mattel.

From personal experience, we understand that friendships forged in childhood can contribute significantly to both personal and career development, offering girls a wide range of opportunities.
