Mckenna Grace, known for her role in The Handmaid’s Tale, is joining the cast of Netflix’s upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series, according to Variety. She will play Daphne Blake in the show, which will explore how the members of Mystery Inc. first came together.
The news about this show’s return first surfaced in March 2025. The series focuses on Shaggy and Daphne during their last summer at camp, where they become involved in a spooky mystery. They investigate a lost Great Dane puppy who may have seen something related to a strange murder…
Along with Velma, a practical and intelligent local, and Freddy, a mysterious and attractive new student, the group begins investigating a disturbing case that’s drawing them into a frightening situation and risks revealing hidden truths about each of them.
What to Read Next
This isn’t the first time Mckenna Grace has been involved with the character – she previously voiced young Daphne in the 2020 animated film Scoob!
Beyond her Emmy-nominated role as Esther Keyes on The Handmaid’s Tale, Grace also starred as the title character in Netflix‘s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Though Kiernan Shipka played the main role, Grace portrayed a younger Sabrina Spellman.

She also had a role on Young Sheldon, a spin-off of The Big Bang Theory, where she first appeared as Paige in season 2.
Grace recently appeared in two films: she starred in the movie adaptation of Coleen Hoover’s Regretting You, and also returned for the horror sequel Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
The upcoming Scooby-Doo series on Netflix will consist of eight episodes, and Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will be leading the creative side as showrunners.

Greg Berlanti, an executive producer on the project, once recalled that one of his earliest and most cherished Hollywood experiences was watching Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera sign individual animation cels, as he shared with Tudum.
Josh, Scott, and the entire team at Midnight Radio have created a story that truly reflects their creativity and passion. We’re thankful for their work, as well as the support from Warner and Netflix, in making this new version of Scooby-Doo a reality!
We’ll find out who’s playing the rest of the Mystery Inc. team soon enough.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-colour magazine celebrating Taylor Swift, is now available! You can find it in newsagents or order it online for only £8.99.
