Halo Infinite to Get Third-Person Mode in November as 343 Rebrands as Halo Studios With 'Multiple Games' in the Works Using Unreal Engine 5

As a long-time Halo fan who’s witnessed the evolution of this iconic franchise since its inception, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the recent announcement made by 343 Industries, now rebranded as ‘Halo Studios’. The idea of multiple new Halo games in development using Unreal Engine 5 is nothing short of thrilling!

343 Industries, the creators of Halo Infinite, have revealed a fresh start for the Halo series. The studio has rebranded as ‘Halo Studios’, indicating that several brand-new Halo games are being developed, with plans to utilize Unreal Engine 5 in their creation.

The big change was revealed during the Halo World Championship tournament over the weekend, wherein the newly-renamed Halo Studios showcased an Unreal Engine 5 technical test of Halo locations. Dubbed ‘Project Foundry’, the demo is a glimpse at what might be possible for the next game in the series.

343 opted to rely on its own Slipspace engine (with some elements dating back over two decades) for Halo Infinite, which partially explains the game’s prolonged development timeline. They anticipate that transitioning to Unreal Engine 5 will serve as a starting point for Halo Studios’ evolution, shaping their future game-building process.

As a devoted fan, I’d put it this way: “If you truly dissect Halo, there have been two significantly different eras. The first was under Bungie, and now we’ve got 343 Industries at the helm. Frankly, I believe our community is eager for more, so instead of merely refining development processes, we aim to revolutionize the way we craft Halo games. And so, today marks the beginning of a new chapter.

Below, you’ll find a sneak peek at Project Foundry using Unreal Engine 5 to get a taste of Halo. Meanwhile, the third-person gameplay for Halo Infinite is scheduled to release in November.

Experience a new way to play!
