Halo 2’s Lost E3 Demo For Steam Version of Halo: MCC and Halo Infinite Delta Arena Playlist Maps Among 20 Year Anniversary Celebrations
As a hardcore Halo fan who has spent countless hours navigating the intricate worlds of this iconic franchise, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming celebrations! The 20-year anniversary of Halo 2 is a monumental moment, and it’s heartwarming to see the team at Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) going all out.
343 Industries, now known as Halo Studios, has shared details about the special events they have planned for Halo Infinite, as we approach the 20-year anniversary of Halo 2 on November 9th.
Celebrate your birthday with the ultimate ‘Halo 2’ party! This special event will feature the reintroduction of the Delta Arena multiplayer playlist, complete with remakes of iconic ‘Halo 2’ maps. Best of all, you can access these goodies as a Steam Workshop mod for the Steam edition of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. To top it off, you’ll get a chance to experience the long-lost E3 2003 ‘Halo 2’ demo for the very first time!
Starting today in Halo Infinite, the Delta Arena playlist is now active, including freshly-crafted Forge variations of classic maps like Ascension, Midship (renamed Inquisitor), Lockout (called Canopy), Warlock (Conjurer), and Turf (now Boulevard), along with remakes of fan favorites such as Sanctuary, renamed Serenity, and Beaver Creek, which is now known as Beaver Canyon.
The settings in the Delta Arena playlist have been modified to mimic the atmosphere of Halo 2. Sprinting and clambering are no longer available, jump height is increased by 120%, and friendly player collisions are activated. Game modes such as Slayer, Oddball, Capture the Flag, and King of the Hill will be included, with the MA5K Avenger SMG being your initial weapon, reminiscent of Halo 2’s classic setup.
Following the resolution of technical issues, the E3 demo for Halo 2 will be available on Steam’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection starting from November 9th. This is made possible by tools developed by Digsite for porting and updating legacy assets, as well as a collaboration with the modding community that contributed to recreating and scripting the E3 demo version of Halo 2.
Alongside everything else, celebrations inspired by Halo and Forza are now available in Forza Horizon 5 starting from November 7th. Additionally, the Halo 2 Delta Arena Playlist is set to arrive in Halo Infinite as part of ‘Operation: Great Journey’, which begins today. You can catch a glimpse of this new content by watching the trailer (available below), which will be live at 6pm GMT.
