Hallow’s End arrives early in Hearthstone with free Nightmare Zail and cards

If you play as the Warlock and want a fresh hero skin, here’s how to get Nightmare Zail without spending any money.

The Halloween fun in Hearthstone started a little early this year! Players can get free card packs and even unlock the Nightmare version of Zail without spending anything. Here’s a complete guide to the 2025 Hallow’s End event, covering all the quests, what you need to do to finish them, and the rewards you’ll earn.

Hey everyone, from September 29th to October 14th, there’s some fun Hallow’s End stuff happening in Hearthstone! To jump in, just fire up the game and check your quest log. You’ll find an invitation there that unlocks a special, limited-time rewards track. It’s gonna be awesome!

You’ll also find a few special Hallow’s End quests that give you Event XP. For instance, the Zombification quest asks you to summon 850 minions while playing standard Hearthstone matches. Once you finish that, you can move on to Witch’s Cauldon, which requires you to cast spells. Lastly, the Blood Suckers quest involves healing a combined total of 325 health.

Also, remember to do your daily quests. Currently, we have one that asks us to cast 10 Fel or Shadow spells. If you don’t like the daily quest you’ve received, you can get a new one by clicking the red icon at the top-right of the quest card.

How to unlock Nightmare Zail in Hearthstone

As you gain enough Event XP, you’ll unlock some great rewards, including free card packs, several free Hearthstone cards, a random legendary card, and even Nightmare Zail as a hero skin for the Warlock class. Here’s a breakdown of all the Event XP milestones and the Hallow’s End rewards you can earn.

  • 400 Event XP = 1 Lost City of Un’Goro card pack, 2 random common cards from the latest expansion
  • 1,200 Event XP = 1 Lost City of Un’Goro card pack, 2 random rare cards from the latest expansion
  • 2,400 Event XP = 2 random epic cards from the latest expansion
  • 4,000 Event XP = 1 random legendary card from the latest expansion and the Nightmare Zail hero skin
