On Tuesday, Halle Berry’s personal stylist expressed delight on Instagram about their achievement of outfitting the renowned actress in an almost transparent dress at the 2025 Met Gala, which garnered a fair share of surprised reactions.

At the gala, Lindsay Flores posted multiple photos featuring the ex-Bond girl, subtly revealing some intimate aspects of her appearance.

In the caption, Flores expressed that ‘They’re doing well, they’re quite stylish,’ while sharing a picture of Halle Berry and her partner, Van Hunt.

Later on, Lindsay listed out Berry’s accomplishments: Her gown was designed by Laquan Smith, her accessories were from Cartier, her makeup was done by Hung Vanngo, her hairstylist was Sara Seward, and her nails were worked on by Kim Truong.

Lindsay proceeded to recount Berry’s accolades: Laquan Smith crafted her dress, Cartier provided her jewelry, Hung Vanngo handled her makeup, Sara Seward styled her hair, and Kim Truong took care of her nails.

Seward also took to Instagram to glow as she said Berry’s look was ‘magic.’

On the red carpet, Halle dared to go without undergarments, shocking fans with what might be her most revealing outfit yet.

In a daring move, the 58-year-old Academy Award-winning actress wore a revealing, beaded black and transparent LaQuan Smith dress with stripes. However, her choice of foregoing undergarments created a potential wardrobe mishap whenever she shifted positions due to the outfit’s lack of support.

A portion of her belly and lower body area were revealed in the bold outfit, which she paired with a short-sleeved black jacket featuring shoulder padding.

In a bold display of fashion, not just the actress but also stars like Lisa from The White Lotus, Kim Kardashian, Sabrina Carpenter, and Jenna Ortega dared to flaunt their unique styles. Lisa revealed her undergarments, Kim highlighted her figure, while Sabrina and Jenna chose outfits without pants.

Halle gave guests and viewers at home a further eyeful as she put her ample cleavage on display. 

The dress had a long train, and she completed the ensemble with a tiny topper hat (fascinator) and eye-catching accessory jewelry.

Critics on social media labeled the celebrity as ‘shameful’ due to her exposed lower torso, while some admirers thought she looked ‘wonderful,’ but quickly emphasized the need for more modest attire.

One individual stated, ‘Halle… dear one. I had hoped for more from you. It’s understood that time brings changes, and you’ve matured gracefully, much like exquisite aged wine. However, this action isn’t what I anticipated.’

Someone else added, ‘Halle Berry is still hot but doesn’t need to dress like that.’ 

A dissatisfied spectator focused on a picture of her waistline and alleged that she had ‘let it slip.’

The central idea aimed to honor Black dandy culture, a fashion trend originating from Europe after Emancipation, which flourished significantly during the Harlem Renaissance.

I couldn’t help but appreciate the way the design elements of this piece mirrored the theme’s essence. It was all about the dramatic silhouette, opulent materials, and an undeniable audacity that left me in awe.

LaQuan described the overall look as ‘a mix of sexy-Bond-girl meets Harlem Renaissance.’

He emphasized the importance of working alongside Halle, as he expressed to Vogue, “She is self-aware and possesses an undeniable sense of style, yet she’s exceptionally collaborative. During our fitting sessions, she didn’t merely slip into an outfit—she sculpted it with me.

He remembered that she advocated for specific adjustments that improved her agility, and we experimented with transparent elements to achieve the ideal blend of sophistication and boldness. Her suggestions were consistently purposeful, stemming from how she desired to experience the work—rather than merely its appearance.

The designer, who was responsible for Ciara’s outfit on that particular occasion, shared with People that he has consistently drawn inspiration from the spirit of the Harlem Renaissance and this lively jazz era.

This year’s gala theme was inspired by the Spring Exhibition at the Costume Institute, which spotlighted the fashion style known as Black dandyism.

The event was hosted by a pair of chairs (co-chairs), and among them were actor Colman Domingo, Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky, musician and Louis Vuitton’s creative director Pharrell Williams. LeBron James is set to join them as the honorary chair.

Around 600 were expected, with athletes Simone Biles and Sha’Carri Richardson among them.
