Halle Berry, 58, wows in a jumpsuit at GMA as she discusses menopause and how she slows down aging process
As a woman who has seen the passage of time and navigated through various stages of life, I can truly resonate with Halle Berry’s journey. Her openness about menopause and diabetes is commendable, as it breaks the silence that often surrounds these natural aspects of our lives.
On a bustling Thursday in New York City, Halle Berry caught everyone’s attention with her fashionable outfit when she visited Good Morning America.
58-year-old actress from The Monster’s Ball, who recently stated that Blake Lively wanted her to reprise her X-Men character, Storm, in Deadpool and Wolverine, displayed a bright grin upon her arrival at the Times Square studio.
The Oscar winner – whose latest Netflix film, The Union, is set to air on the streaming site on August 16 – held a candid discussion about menopause while stopping by the show.
In my latest fashion find, I absolutely dazzled in a sleek, striped jumpsuit boasting a captivating blend of black and gray. This versatile piece featured a striking flare at the bottom and a bold, deep-cut neckline that added an edge to my look.
Moreover, Berry put on a pair of sleek, open-toed, black platform sandals to match the color coordination of her ensemble.
Her medium-length, brown hair was divided in the middle, cascading gracefully in soft curls almost reaching her shoulder ends.
She adorned her ensemble with a delicate chain necklace, stylish gold hoop earrings, and oversized black sunglasses.
Instead of a rosy hue on her cheekbones for an illuminating effect, Berry chose a soft pink blush. For the final accent, she applied a subtle, satiny lipstick in a natural shade.
On her 58th birthday, which fell on a Wednesday, the star shared insights about menopause, drawing from her personal journey.
Back in May, she delivered a speech on Capitol Hill to challenge stereotypes concerning menopause and advocated for laws that would provide funding for more comprehensive research and educational initiatives related to this topic.
Halle shared with the host, Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, that her preferred topic is the one which led her to Capital Hill. However, it was discovering she was in perimenopause without knowing it that actually took her there.
She recalled, ‘I was 54-years-old, and no doctor that I had dared to talk to me about it. It was as if this never happened to me.’
Later on, Halle disclosed that she had been given an incorrect diagnosis of having herpes. She also mentioned that this wasn’t an easy piece of news to take in.
Three days after the diagnosis, it turned out that she didn’t have herpes, yet doctors were still unable to identify Berry’s symptoms. This was what really made me angry.
Reflecting on my situation, I was taken aback when even with one of the top doctors in California, he wasn’t able to fully grasp the issue at hand. This incident led me to surmise that perhaps millions of women out there might be encountering similar difficulties in understanding their health issues.
As a woman who has experienced menopause, I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment that we must normalize this natural phase of life. It took me some time to fully embrace my menopause journey, but now I understand that it’s an essential part of growing older as a woman. So, how do we make it okay? We need to break the silence and openly discuss our experiences with other women. Let’s say it loud and clear: “I’m in menopause.” This simple statement can help reduce the stigma surrounding this life stage and empower countless others who are going through the same thing.
No worries at all! Remember, this is just a part of life’s journey. We all experience such phases. Let’s try to see it as an opportunity for growth rather than a problem. Let’s have an open discussion about it and explore potential solutions together.
As a seasoned 35-year-old myself, I strongly encourage my peers to begin contemplating the changes that lie ahead and how they can navigate them effectively. With my own experiences as a guide, I believe it’s crucial to seek out wisdom from knowledgeable professionals and insightful literature currently available. By doing so, we can equip ourselves with the tools necessary to transition smoothly into this new phase of life in the best possible way.
‘And don’t be afraid of it, be fearless about it,’ Halle added.
During a visit to Washington D.C. in May, the well-known Hollywood actress vocalized “I’m going through menopause” in an attempt to shed light on this significant milestone in a woman’s life.
“She emphasized that she was going through menopause and highlighted the importance of addressing this common aspect of life openly, stating, ‘We need to eliminate the stigma surrounding menopause and discuss it freely.'”
‘Our doctors can’t even say the word to us, let alone walk us through the journey,’ Halle added.
During a recent interview with E! News, Berry opened up how she slows down the aging process, revealing that she cuts out sugar.
In her teenage years, the actress was diagnosed with diabetes, which led her to significantly reduce sugar intake in her diet. Interestingly, this change has turned out to be beneficial for her skin health overall.
She told the outlet, ‘It’s hard work and you have to work at it. It’s a lifestyle. I think being diagnosed with diabetes when I was 19-years-old has kept me away from the number one ageing substance which is sugar.’
The Oscar-winning star also noted that getting enough sleep can help her maintain a youthful appearance.
She mentioned, “I believe ensuring adequate rest, making sleep a priority, and taking care of one’s health and wellness is crucial. However, it can be challenging to do so at times.”
On this special day, I found myself celebrating another year of life, marking my 58th birthday. In the spirit of authenticity, I decided to capture a candid selfie, reflecting upon the journey that has led me here. As I look back, I am deeply grateful for the love and support you, my fans, have shown me throughout these years. Thank you!
Now at this point in her life, she observed that the saying ‘simplicity is key’ holds true for her.
On her special day, Halle’s partner, Van Hunt, posted a touching message celebrating their growing love.
The artist penned on his personal note, “Happy birthday to you! People may not notice the dedication or the strain, but I’m honored to confess that I’m committed – as our relationship blossoms and deepens.”
Berry has been keeping busy, and is also promoting her upcoming Netflix movie titled, The Union.
Just last week, I was absolutely dazzled at the glitzy LA premiere, where I happened to spot her radiant presence. She turned heads in a breathtaking, partially see-through black lace gown, making the event even more unforgettable!
The movie is helmed by Julian Farino, with Mark Wahlberg, J.K. Simmons, Mike Colter, and Alice Lee as its main cast members.
The story revolves around Mike, a construction worker portrayed by Wahlberg, who gets drawn into the secret agent realm after Roxanne, played by Berry, enlists him for a covert operation.
