In a single-colored, crimson ensemble, the actress who played The Little Mermaid attracted attention as she walked alongside other stylish, high-profile women kicking off the fashionable procession on the red carpet.
Her dress boasted a structured, bullet-bra-like upper part and an off-center, deep V-shaped neckline that was particularly striking.

The show will feature an impressive lineup of popular musicians including Sabrina Carpenter, Katy Perry, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Benson Boone, Halsey, LISA, Lenny Kravitz, Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J, and Shawn Mendes. They will all take the stage during the event.
The MTV VMAs will air live on 8pm ET/PT.
This year’s recipient of the legendary Video Vanguard Award will be Katy Perry.
In a statement, Bruce Gillmer, the head of music content for Paramount+ and also the president of music, talent, programming, and events at Paramount, declared that Katy is an incredibly talented musician and a genuine pop culture legend.
Gillmer noted that with her innovative and groundbreaking creative perspective, she has grown into a worldwide sensation, dominating some of the largest stages across the globe.
Notable recipients of the Video Vanguard Award in the past are David Bowie, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and Pink.
The award comes as Perry prepares to release her upcoming seventh studio album 143.
Over the summer, I eagerly awaited the release of her comeback single, “Woman’s World,” but to my dismay, it failed to make an impact on the charts. As a die-hard fan, it’s been tough to see this beloved artist struggle with her latest offering.
Regarding awards, Taylor Swift stands out as the artist with the highest number of nominations at this particular event, boasting a total of 10 nods in her favor.
At 34 years old, this acclaimed artist stands on the brink of creating history. If she wins Video of the Year again, she will be the first ever to do so five times. Currently, she holds the record for the most Video of the Year awards with an impressive four trophies to her name.
Her collaboration with Post Malone, the track Fortnight, is up for Video of the Year.
Post Malone is only one nomination behind Taylor, having accumulated a total of nine, the majority of which stem from their collaborative efforts.
As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but beam with pride when I heard that my favorite artist received a nomination, all on his own, for the Best Collaboration category – it’s his stunning track with Morgan Wallen, “I Had Some Help.” Taylor Swift wasn’t involved this time around, but that just made the recognition even sweeter.
Also up for six nominations are Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Eminem.
Like Megan Thee Stallion, SZA is up for five nominations.
Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo, Teddy Swims, and Blackpink member Lisa all tied with four nods each.
Finally Benson Boone, Anitta, Dua Lipa, Tyla, Bleachers, and GloRilla all have three nominations.
To finish off her look, she opted for bright, white gold jewelry.
With her hair pulled back, her dangling diamond earrings were on full display.
She also sported identical bangle bracelets on both wrists.
On her well-manicured hands, she added several, stunning eternity rings.
