Halle Bailey and DDG reach custody terms over son Halo, drop mutual restraining orders

Halle Bailey, known for her role in “The Little Mermaid,” and her former boyfriend, rapper DDG, have agreed to pause their ongoing disagreement about their 1-year-old son, Halo.

The musicians, who were in a relationship from 2022 to 2024, have resolved their legal issues. They’ve withdrawn requests for restraining orders against each other and have reached a temporary agreement on how they will share custody of their child. This agreement, filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday, represents a major step forward in resolving their conflict, which became public over the summer.

Chloë Bailey, one half of the musical duo Chloë x Halle, and rapper DDG (born Darryl Granberry Jr.) announced they were separating in October 2024, initially stating they remained friends and would co-parent their child. However, issues arose in May when Bailey filed for a temporary restraining order, claiming DDG had been abusive during their two-year relationship and after the split. Court documents revealed Bailey, 25, alleged the abuse was physical, verbal, emotional, and financial. She requested that DDG, 28, be legally required to stay away from her and their son.

Halle Bailey and rapper DDG have ended their romantic relationship, several months after having a baby boy together.

Rapper DDG, famous for his 2016 hit “Balenciaga,” responded to allegations made against him by filing for a domestic violence restraining order of his own. He claims his ex-girlfriend has emotional issues and tries to control him, and he’s worried about her repeated threats to harm herself. He also alleges that her emotional distress has put their child in danger on multiple occasions.

So, the legal agreement basically says Bailey and DDG have to drop their current restraining orders right now, but it doesn’t stop either of them from seeking protection again if things escalate in the future. It leaves the door open for them to file new requests if there’s further evidence of abuse, which is… a complicated situation, to say the least.

According to court records, Bailey will be Halo’s primary caretaker, with Halo spending Wednesdays and some weekends with the other parent. The agreement also details how they will share custody for birthdays and holidays.

Recent court filings also detail how each parent uses social media, an issue that became a disagreement after they split up. For example, in November 2024, DDG included his baby, Halo, in a livestream with Twitch personality Kai Cenat.

Halle Bailey has filed a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, DDG, who is also the father of their one-year-old son, Halo. Bailey alleges that DDG, a Twitch streamer, has been abusive towards her.

According to court documents, neither Bailey nor DDG are allowed to share any photos, images, or information about their child online or on social media. This restriction also applies to their friends and family. Furthermore, both parents are prohibited from speaking negatively about each other, either publicly or in front of their two-year-old child.

Bailey admired DDG long before they started dating. They connected through social media messages and first appeared as a couple at the 2022 BET Awards. Bailey openly shared how much she loved DDG, describing the relationship as her “first truly meaningful love.”

Looking back at their relationship, it definitely wasn’t all smooth sailing for those two. I mean, things got pretty public with DDG dropping that diss track after Halle Bailey landed the part in “The Little Mermaid” – talk about awkward! And I remember reading about some tension with Halle’s sister, Ski, adding to the drama. It was a lot to watch unfold, honestly.

DDG is fighting back against Halle Bailey’s request for a restraining order, and is now asking a court to prevent her from traveling outside the country with their son, Halo. Bailey initially filed for the restraining order against DDG.

Halle Bailey currently has more than just family matters on her plate.

Her first solo album, “Love?…or Something Like It,” came out on Friday. She shared on Instagram earlier this month that the album tells the story of falling in love, going through heartbreak, and what happens next.
