Haley Joel Osment ordered to AA, therapy after alleged public drunkenness at ski resort

Following his arrest earlier this year for suspected public intoxication and cocaine possession, Haley Joel Osment has been ordered by the court to participate in a six-month program that includes Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and therapy sessions.

In my own words, I’d say: “I learned yesterday that the talented actor from ‘The Sixth Sense’ and ‘Blink Twice’, who is now 37 years old, appeared in court in Mono County, California on Monday. It appears a judge has agreed to give him a one-year diversion program. If he fulfills the conditions of this program – which includes attending at least three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week and two therapy sessions with his therapist every month for the next six months – he’ll avoid any further legal trouble. He also needs to abide by all laws, as stated by Mono County District Attorney David Anderson in a statement to The Times.

“If he does not complete diversion, the criminal proceedings will be reinstated,” Anderson said.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the actor failed to provide an immediate response to The Times’ query for a statement.

Actor Haley Joel Osment, famous for ‘The Sixth Sense’, was freed following his latest arrest in Mammoth Lakes, where he was suspected of being under the influence in public and having an unknown illicit drug on him.

Actor Joshua Osment, recognized for voicing characters in the widely acclaimed “Kingdom Hearts” video game series, was detained on April 8 on allegations of public drunkenness and illegal substance possession at the well-known Mammoth Mountain ski resort. Initially, the Mono County district attorney’s office reported that they indicted Osment for two minor offenses: disorderly conduct under the influence of alcohol and controlled substance possession.

In April, TMZ reported that law enforcement was summoned due to claims of an apparently intoxicated person at a ski resort. The site shared a video showing Osment, with his ski helmet on backwards, supposedly delaying a ski lift queue. Angry resort visitors asked Osment to leave the line, but he disregarded their requests and ignored a team member who was trying to guide him away from the queue, as depicted in the video.

In my own words, I’d rephrase it as: “In addition to his predicament, I lashed out at the officer who apprehended me, alleging something like ‘I’ve been abducted by a… (an analogy I wouldn’t use myself),’ and making an offensive comment that targeted a specific group. Upon seeing this footage later, I was utterly shocked and ashamed by my actions during what seemed to be a moment of intoxication.

According to Haley Joel Osment, he found himself in a state of unconsciousness or confusion when he used an offensive term targeting people of Jewish faith during his recent arrest at the Mammoth Mountain ski resort. This incident occurred earlier this month.

As a true film enthusiast, I sincerely apologize from the depths of my soul to everyone this may have offended. The words that tumbled out were senseless and foolish – I’ve fallen short in representing the Jewish community, and it breaks my heart. I do not seek forgiveness, but vow to make amends for my grave error.

In his declaration, Anderson stated that his team thought it was inappropriate to divert the case as they disagreed with Osment’s request. They pointed out his previous DUI offense and remarks made to the police officer as reasons for their objection. However, eventually a judge ruled in favor of Osment.

Osment is next due in court Jan. 5, 2026, for a review of his diversion compliance.

Previously announced, he will be featured in the second season of the popular Netflix show “Wednesday.” This was disclosed during the Tudum fan event held at Inglewood on Saturday, where the streaming giant unveiled his character as a serial killer.
