Hairy Bikers star Si King confirms new solo TV role
As a longtime fan of the Hairy Bikers, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing about Si King’s new solo role on ITV. On one hand, I’m thrilled to see him continuing his culinary journey and sharing his passion for food with us. On the other, it’s bittersweet knowing that his partner-in-crime, Dave Myers, is no longer by his side.
Hairy Bikers star Si King has confirmed he has a new solo role on ITV.
The television cook gained significant recognition for jointly presenting a popular travel program alongside his close friend and co-host, Dave Myers. Tragically, Dave lost his life to cancer in February following a tough fight that lasted two years.
In a recent interview on “Good Morning Britain,” Susanna Reid inquired about the plans of King concerning his upcoming endeavors, in light of Myers’ passing.
She remarked, “It seems challenging for you, given that the two of you appeared as a couple on TV, don’t you agree?” or simply “Given your relationship on screen with Dave, I imagine this must be tough for you.
Hey there! As we’ve been through some unforgettable adventures together, I can’t help but reminisce about the incredible bond we shared – a friendship that was not just special, but truly exceptional. It’s tough to let go, I get it, but now you’re stepping into a new chapter of your life and taking on a fresh role, aren’t you? In this new journey, you’ll find yourself immersed in the intriguing world of ITV daytime. Here’s to exploring what lies ahead!
Later, he clarified that he would first appear as a kitchen resident on ‘This Morning’, starting from January, even though he initially called the show ‘Good Morning’.
Upon a swift nudge from Reid, he chuckled, “Guess I got the day off to a decent start with ‘Good Morning,’ huh?
Currently, the BBC has planned a unique, standalone special called “The Hairy Bikers: You’ll Never Ride Alone“. This program will be dedicated to honoring the life of King’s cherished friend.
Throughout the show, Si will highlight some pivotal instances from the last 25 years of Dave and Si’s television journeys, celebrating a unique camaraderie that has left an indelible mark on cooking shows, the synopsis suggests playfully.
The episode will also include archive footage and new interviews, plus a look at the special memorial journey for Myers in April.
The Hairy Bikers: You’ll Never Ride Alone airs December 23 at 9pm on BBC Two.
