HAIKYU FLY HIGH is an exciting role-playing game (RPG) developed by Garena, centered around the popular sport of volleyball. The game does a great job of recreating the original comic with lots of attention to detail. After playing for several months, I want to share some helpful tips and insights with a guide to help you understand the game’s bond system.

What is bond and how does it work in HAIKYU!! FLY HIGH

In the game, Bonds are a unique feature that become active when players team up. The Bond Gallery currently displays 94 different types of Bonds. These Bonds generally fall into two main categories:

  • Deployment Bonds: Yes, you need to deploy the players on the field. Activates when the players who share the same bond are also present on the court. You get boosts, like more morale gain, with these bonds. So the player bond, if you collect them, receives stat bonuses by obtaining all players in a bond group. The Bond level increases as the Star Level of all players in the group increases. Higher Bond Levels improve Bond bonuses.
  • Passive Bonds: You do not need to deploy the players on the field; rather, just flexing some muscles by sitting on the bench can also activate your passive bond. You get advantages like grant bonuses. So, without actively deploying the team on the field, this is where you can get a little relaxed.

Certain Bonds offer bonuses to only a few players. These Bonds will show up on the player’s and their school’s Bond lists only when those players are receiving the bonus. Meanwhile, Deployment Bonds require all players in the group to be actively playing to unlock special skills or the group’s overall bonus.

As a player, I’ve found that building bonds with my team is really important for keeping everyone’s spirits up. You can check each player’s bond level in their profile section. Honestly, though, with so many players in the game, 94 different bond types doesn’t feel like a ton. I’d love to see even more variety there!

Bond boosts your team’s morale and lets you unlock special abilities tied to specific players. When active, you’ll notice those players highlighted. Essentially, it’s a team-wide power-up that improves overall morale.

How to unlock the bond in HAIKYU!! FLY HIGH

You strengthen relationships with characters by progressing through the game. Since the game uses a ‘gacha’ system to obtain characters, you’ll need to use that to build your team. These relationships have different levels, and improving them boosts your characters’ abilities.

Passive bonds offer a small performance boost, depending on the player you’re using and who they have a bond with. This effect is strongest when the bonded player is nearby, such as when they’re on the bench.

When choosing players who have strong bonds, don’t just look at who has a bond. Instead, focus on who is actually benefiting from the bond’s effects.

Before each match, you can view team bonds in the lineup section to help you choose players who will activate those bonds. Use this information to build and adjust your team to maximize your bond benefits.

Now for the big question: how do you unlock these bonds? Bonds are unlocked when you recruit players who share them, and who are on your recruitment list. Essentially, you need to collect pull tickets, use them to get the players you want, and that will unlock the bonds.
