As a dedicated fan of Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine for the past seven years, this news has left me reeling like a batter facing a curveball. I remember the day I joined the team as a coach, and Tsubasa Arihara convinced me to manage the girls’ basketball team. It was an unforgettable journey, filled with victories, friendships, and heartbreaks that mirrored my own life experiences.

Akatsuki Games has officially confirmed that they will be closing down their long-running Japanese basketball simulation game, “Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine.” This decision comes after the initial announcement about the end of its service. Over the course of seven years, this game spawned a novel, manga, and an anime adaptation, all of which were successful spin-offs.

Sadly, as previously announced on Akatuki Games’ official site, the game “August Cinderella Nine” will be closing its servers according to plan. In the announcement, the developers mentioned that they would be wrapping up service for this game with the release of the final episode of the main story on December 17, 2024.

Some good news for the dedicated fans

Despite finding it quite disappointing due to the game’s sentimental value for its players, there’s some positive news to share: The developers have confirmed their intention to roll out version 8.9.0 of the game, which is now playable offline, albeit with a few missing features. Furthermore, they have also unveiled the closing chapter of the storyline that was previously accessible only until yesterday.
