The Marvel Cinematic Universe began its sixth phase in 2025 with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but the current storyline is nearing its end. The Multiverse Saga will finish in 2027 with Avengers: Secret Wars, after which the franchise will be refreshed with Phase 7 and future installments.
Gwyneth Paltrow, who first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008’s Iron Man, recently hinted at a possible return to the franchise. In an interview with Boston, the actress, known for her role as Pepper Potts, casually mentioned, “I might be in another Marvel movie.”
It’s not clear if Gwyneth Paltrow has already filmed scenes as her Marvel character for a future movie, or if she’s preparing to return to the role in a film that hasn’t begun production yet. Her character, Pepper Potts, last appeared in the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, where she fought alongside the Avengers against Thanos.
It’s possible she’s been cast in Avengers: Doomsday, which finished filming on September 19, 2025. Although Marvel Studios didn’t announce her as part of the cast during their live stream on March 26, 2025, Kevin Feige later mentioned at CinemaCon on April 3rd that not all of the characters had been revealed yet.
With Robert Downey Jr. reportedly joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom in the next two Avengers movies, bringing Gwyneth Paltrow back as Pepper Potts could create a powerful emotional storyline, especially considering Tony Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame. The multiverse also opens up the possibility of introducing a different version of Pepper Potts from another reality.
Besides Avengers films, Gwyneth Paltrow might appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is currently being filmed with Tom Holland returning as Spider-Man in 2026. It would be a funny cameo, considering Paltrow famously forgot she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2019.
Next year, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will learn if Gwyneth Paltrow’s character, Pepper Potts, will appear in either Spider-Man: Brand New Day, releasing July 31, 2026, or Avengers: Doomsday, coming December 18, 2026. It’s also possible she may have been subtly referencing Avengers: Secret Wars, which is scheduled to open on December 17, 2027.
