She noted: “Moreover, if you examine the top 10 films in the ‘Best Film’ category, I believe you’ll find six distinct film genres represented there.
In a variety of genres, such as science fiction, comedy, suspense, straight drama, musicals, even the terrifying ones like Nosferatu, The Substance, and Heretic are being recognized for their nominations.
The collection of movies you see here, ranging from ‘Wicked’ to ‘Kneecap’, boasts both variety and depth, making it truly thrilling.
Winning this award is often considered a stepping stone towards achieving A-list status, as evidenced by past recipients such as Tom Holland, James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, Lashana Lynch, and Kristen Stewart.
David Tennant will take to the stage to host the BAFTAs for a second year in a row.
The actor, 53, first hosted the awards show last year, taking over from Richard E Grant.
Without a doubt, he’ll showcase his charm and wit after his highly praised first appearance that captivated more than 3.8 million home viewers.
Over 20 million times, the highlights from the ceremony were watched by fans as they caught up with them via social media platforms.
This year, it’s unlikely that Prince William, currently holding the role as president of BAFTA, will be joined by Catherine on the red carpet at the ceremony, as they may not be in attendance.
Last year, Kate was unable to attend the awards as she had announced earlier, on March 22, via a video message that she was battling cancer. Meanwhile, Prince William graced the red carpet by himself at the BAFTAs.
The 2025 EE Bafta Film Awards will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7pm on Sunday February 16.
