Gwendoline Christie Dazzles in Edgy Black Gown at 2025 BAFTAs Red Carpet!

At the start of the 2025 EE British Academy Film Awards, Gwendoline Christie was one of the stylish attendees who graced the red carpet outside London’s Royal Festival Hall on a Sunday evening.

Top contenders, The Brutalist, Conclave, and Wicked are ready to compete fiercely for prestigious awards at the upcoming ceremony. Notable actors such as Ralph Fiennes, Demi Moore, and Kieran Culkin are anticipated to shine and take home acting accolades.

In a striking new appearance, the actress from Game of Thrones flaunted her alluring transformation, pairing a sleek black silk dress with cascading hair extensions that flowed gracefully.

Clarisse Amfo teamed up with Alex Zane as co-hosts for the red carpet event, and she made quite an impression in a stunning, white, theatrical dress.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement when none other than David Tennant graced the stage once again, taking up his role as the host of the BAFTA Awards for a record-breaking second consecutive year!

In a stylish, attention-grabbing coat adorned with vibrant embroidery, the actor from Doctor Who displayed his flair for fashion.

As an over-the-moon admirer, I found myself right beside the captivating Emilie Livingston, who graced the red carpet with her radiant presence in a stunning strapless grey floral gown. Accompanied by the legendary Jeff Goldblum, they were nothing short of a vision of elegance and style.

The EE BAFTA 2025 Awards is back for a spectacular evening filled with entertainment, honoring the exceptional films of the past year and the remarkable artists who breathe life into them.

In 2023, the prestigious event that had been hosted for six years at the Royal Albert Hall was relocated to its new venue: the Royal Festival Hall within the Southbank Centre. Here, it will resume its traditional setting.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards encompass 25 competitive categories which are decided by BAFTA members.

The upcoming show is set to introduce thrilling innovations, among them a fresh category for Children’s & Family Films. This category aims to honor outstanding movies that resonate with audiences of all ages.

For the first time in five years, a fresh category will make its debut at the EE BAFTA Film Awards, signifying the introduction of a brand-new award in this category after a five-year hiatus.

A fresh innovation has been made to the Outstanding British Film category, which now involves a revised method for voting.

In the Thriller Conclave, a remarkable achievement was made as it earned a total of 12 nominations across all categories. Meanwhile, Emilia Perez also shone brightly with 11 nominations, and The Brutalist followed closely behind with 9.

Returning to its native land, the film “Conclave” has been double-nominated for awards at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), compared to the number of nominations it received at the Golden Globe Awards held in Los Angeles last month.

In simpler terms, the gripping mystery movie featuring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and Isabellla Rossellini revolves around a covert and intense election for a new Pope, where power, self-interest, and hidden truths clash between rival cardinals.

The victor surpassed Emilia Perez, the Spanish drama that secured the most Golden Globe awards with 10, as it received 11 nominations for the BAFTAs, making it the second-most nominated production.

Once more, Gladiator 2 has been overlooked by the judges of Awards, as it didn’t receive a nomination for Best Film, and the Irish actor Paul Mescal, aged 28, missed making the BAFTA list for Best Actor.

Demi Moore, aged 62, who received her first acting award at the Globes for her role in Substance, has been nominated in the Leading Actress category alongside Cynthia Erivo, aged 38, from Wicked, and Saoirse Ronan, aged 30, for The Outrun.

Movie industry experts think that being nominated for a BAFTA significantly boosts the chances of The Ghost actress receiving her initial Oscar award.

In other BAFTA nominations, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin are set to compete against each other for the category of Best Supporting Actor. Their riveting performances can be seen in “A Real Pain” and the Trump biopic titled “The Apprentice.”

Or, more casually:
Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin are up for Best Supporting Actor at BAFTAs, with their impressive work showcased in “A Real Pain” and “The Apprentice,” a film about Trump.

Simultaneously, Adrien Brody’s movie “The Brutalist” has earned nine BAFTA nominations. This is followed by the films “Dune 2” and “Wicked,” each receiving seven nominations.

In the 2024 film “Back To Black,” Marisa Abela is at the front of the pack for the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award, thanks to her powerful performance as Amy Winehouse.

On Tuesday, the following individuals were revealed as finalists: Marisa, Jharrel Jerome, David Jonsson, Mikey Madison, and Nabhaan Rizwan. The group includes Unstoppable’s Jharrel Jerome, Alien: Romulus’ David Jonsson, Anora’s Mikey Madison, and In Camera’s Nabhaan Rizwan.

Coincidentally, David, Nabhaan and Marisa were all stars of BBC drama Industry.

Sara Putt, the head of BAFTA, expressed to the Press Association news agency that this year’s BAFTA nomination list showcases a ‘remarkable diversity’.

She mentioned, “Moreover, if you examine the top ten movies under ‘Best Film’, I believe you’ll find that six distinct film genres are represented.

In various genres such as science fiction, comedy, horror, drama, and musicals, a unique blend of titles like ‘Nosferatu’, ‘The Substance’, and ‘Heretic’ have been recognized for their nominations.

Did you notice that the film selection here ranges from ‘Wicked’ to ‘Kneecap’, featuring a variety of musical genres? This diverse list promises both breadth and depth, making it truly captivating.

Winning this award is often considered a stepping stone towards achieving A-list stardom. Notable past recipients include Tom Holland, James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, Lashana Lynch, and Kristen Stewart.

David Tennant will take to the stage to host the BAFTAs for a second year in a row.

The actor, 53, first hosted the awards show last year, taking over from Richard E Grant.

Without a doubt, he’s expected to showcase his charm and wit after receiving a tremendous response from his highly successful debut, which was viewed by approximately 3.8 million households.

Over 20 million times, the ceremony highlights were watched by fans as they caught up with these moments on various social media platforms.

Instead of attending this year’s BAFTA ceremony, Prince William (who serves as its president) and his wife Catherine are not anticipated to be present on the red carpet with him.

Last year, Kate had to miss the awards due to her announcement on March 22 that she had been diagnosed with cancer; meanwhile, Prince William attended the Baftas solo on the red carpet.

The 2025 EE Bafta Film Awards will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7pm on Sunday February 16.
