Gwen Stefani SLAMMED for 'horrifying' treatment of 'terrified' kitten on The Voice

As an ardent fan with a soft spot for Gwen Stefani and her enchanting journey, I must express my dismay at the recent incident involving a kitten and publicity stunt. While I understand the allure of captivating moments to garner attention, I firmly believe that our beloved celebrities should prioritize compassion and kindness towards animals, especially in such sensitive circumstances.

This week on “The Voice,” Gwen Stefani faced criticism for allegedly treating a frightened kitten in a distressing manner.

On Monday night during the premiere of season 26, Gwen Stefani, a singer from No Doubt who is 54 years old, faced criticism after she presented her small new rescue cat on stage. The incident occurred when she held up the kitten while addressing the audience in the studio.

In an impressive performance, Sydney Sterlace charmed the judges with her interpretation of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” – and to sweeten the deal, Stefani offered her cat as a token, hoping that it would persuade Sydney to choose her as a mentor.

She said: ‘You know Sydney… I had this little thing happen to me.

As I stepped onto my porch, a small, seemingly fragile being approached me. Its eyes seemed to plead, as if it were on the brink of life. In a soft, earnest voice, it whispered, “You’re my new cat, and I already love you.” However, I couldn’t help but notice that it had yet to be named.

‘Then I thought maybe I can name it Sydney.

She then raised her voice as the kitten meowed and said: ‘This cat’s name is Sydney!’

When Sydney selected Stefani, Stefani exclaimed “Oh my goodness!” as she held a lively kitten, estimated to be about six weeks old. She then lifted the creature and gave it a warm embrace, cherishing her new protégé.

Subsequently, she strolled off the stage while carrying the kitten aloft by both hands, which promptly drew criticism as ‘troubling’, ‘terrifying’, and ‘unsuitable’.

One fan wrote: ‘Please never let Gwen near an animal again. They way she kept hoisting that tiny, scared kitten sky high above her head was horrifying.’

A different person wrote: ‘I adore you deeply, yet I implore you not to treat a tender kitten in that manner again. The sounds it made and the way you handled it as if it were a toy, everything could be incredibly distressing for such a fragile little creature.’

Here’s a suggestion for paraphrasing the given text: ‘It’s disheartening to witness people using baby animals as entertainment by swinging them, especially when it scares a frightened kitten.’ This version maintains the original message but uses more conversational language and provides additional context to make it easier to understand.

Dear Gwen, my affection for you remains unchanged, and your performances on The Voice continue to bring me joy. However, I wish there was a way for you to grasp the fear that tiny kitten experienced. It wasn’t separated from its mother too long ago, and then being placed in front of such a large crowd and loud noises, it isn’t having the best start to life.

‘Gwen Stefani disgusting kitten publicity stunt is unacceptable’

As a lifestyle aficionado, I must admit that never did I imagine Gwen Stefani engaging in such behavior as tormenting a kitten. Frankly, it’s hard to comprehend the decision-making process behind this situation by both NBC and The Voice. Just wow!

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Gwen Stefani and The Voice comment.

In more recent conversations, Stefani’s former spouse, Gavin Rossdale, discussed Stefani following their separation in 2016, which marked the end of their 13-year union.

He candidly discussed his ‘shame’ over the separation.

‘I never thought I’d ever get divorced, so there’s a simple shame in my life,’ the rockstar began.

He went on, expressing regret. “I wish I could have spared my children such hardships,” he said. “Living in a fractured household was never enjoyable for me.

He added: ‘It can be quite debilitating for kids. The overriding thing is you don’t want to let your kids down.’

In the late 1990s, Gavin and Gwen experienced a romantic collision, and they got married in 2002.

Following the birth and nurturing of our three wonderful sons, and after over a decade of shared love and experiences, my esteemed partner and I decided to embark on separate paths, catching our devoted fanbase off guard. In the year 2016, we formally concluded our marriage legally.

Gwen has since found love with Blake Shelton, whom she married in 2021.
