Guy Pearce Reveals Shocking Desire to Punch Snobby Co-Star!

An Oscar-nominated actor has dished on a ‘snobby’ actress. 

Back in the ’80s, I made my mark on the world as Mike Young, a character I played regularly on the popular Aussie soap opera, Neighbours – a show that ultimately catapulted me into stardom at the age of 57.

More recently, the star who received an Academy Award nomination for The Brutalist had an interview with The Times. During the conversation, he shared that one of his past colleagues criticized the way he honed his acting skills.

A year after departing from the show Neighbors, he remembered an instance when he performed in a play. Then, a snooty actress commented, “How is it possible for you to take part in such a production?” This comment made him feel so enraged that he almost wanted to throw a punch at her!

‘Now, obviously, I didn’t punch her. But it was such a horrible attitude,’ Pearce remembered.

A man who officially ended his long-term relationship in January made a return to play his role as Mike in the final episode of the original series in 2022, and he continued to appear in the show’s revival from 2023 to 2024.

In another conversation with a news outlet based in London, Guy mentioned that it was strongly discouraged when he appeared on a soap opera.

In the past, actors were categorized as either theater or film performers. If one ended up in a soap opera, they were considered to be at the very bottom – yet it was quite a remarkable chance.

In his initial acting gig on the show “Neighbors,” he admitted, “I didn’t have a clue about what I was doing, but I learned a great deal. When inexperienced actors seek my guidance, I often respond with a question, ‘Is it all about getting lucky?’ because I believe I did just that.

Five years after our encounter, I unexpectedly spotted her in a commercial on television. I couldn’t help but feel the urge to track her down and simply say, “…five years later.

Previously, the seasoned performer secured his inaugural Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actor class, thanks to his highly praised role in The Brutalist during the past month.

In the post-World War II drama, Pearce acts alongside Adrien Brody. Notably, Adrien was also recognized with a Best Actor nomination.

The recognition from the Oscars adds to Pearce’s streak of nominations, which also includes the Golden Globes and BAFTAs.

He’s vying for the prestigious award alongside Keiran Culkin (from “A Real Pain”) and Edward Norton (also known as “A Complete Unknown”).

In an interview with The Times, Guy mentioned that he relies on a gut feeling or “intuitive reaction” when choosing the creative projects he takes on.

He discussed the storyline, characters, and director. However, he usually only implements about 5% of what he reads. Each script he begins with hopes that it will be similar to ‘LA Confidential’, a sense where you feel drawn into a whirlpool. Yet often, by page twenty, he thinks, “Oh, I see.

The Oscar nomination for this individual occurred soon after it was announced that he and his longtime partner, Carice van Houten, had parted ways. Together they have an nine-year-old son named Monte.

Through a post on her Instagram, the Dutch actress clarified that she and her partner are no longer together, as they haven’t been a romantic item for quite some time.

She penned, “Typically, I prefer not to delve into my private affairs, yet due to several speculations about my relationship with Guy in the press last week, I felt it necessary to set the record straight.

‘He and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven’t been a couple for years.

I’m thrilled to share that we’re part of an incredible bond nurturing the purest love we know – our lovely son and his pet hamster. It’s a truly special journey.
