Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein Trailer Gave Me Something I Never Thought I’d See, And I Can’t Wait For The Film

At long last, here it is, folks! Guillermo del Toro’s interpretation of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” has finally come to life and will grace our movie screens in 2025. After a decade filled with false starts, halts, and obstacles, this exciting development is like sweet music to my ears. However, whispers of del Toro’s emotionally charged reimagining might unsettle some viewers. But after witnessing the teaser trailer, I have a feeling that Mary Shelley’s monster will do something unexpected: engage in combat.

During the exciting Tudum live event tonight, Netflix unveiled the initial clips from an upcoming creature feature where Oscar Isaac plays a cursed scientist and Jacob Elordi portrays his abandoned creation. The cast also includes Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and numerous other prominent figures. Guillermo del Toro has been eagerly working on this project for a staggering 25 years, and trust us, it’s more than worth the wait!

Regardless of how well-versed you may be in the intricacies of “Frankenstein”, the Creature is often depicted as a towering, brutish figure who intimidates humans with his strength. However, that final scene where Frankenstein’s Monster skillfully wields a pitchfork and forcibly advances his would-be attacker before delivering a beating is truly remarkable. This display of control is particularly striking given the Creature’s usual demeanor.

To fully grasp my enthusiasm about this footage, let me share some background information with you. We’ve been discussing Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein for quite a while now. In fact, one of our previous news reports from 2012 mentioned that the project was moving forward at Universal Studios.

Similar to “At the Mountains of Madness,” that project was never produced at that particular studio; a phase during which various linked proposals were presented and then withdrawn. (Do you recall the pitch for “Dark Universe” and its Bride of Frankenstein?). However, the monster and its creator are set to make their chilling return in this entirely new story.

Frankestein will descent upon us this November, only on Netflix.

More to come…
