A famous Australian rock star surprised people at the ARIA Awards on Wednesday night with a video appearance where he looked dramatically different.
Okay, so everyone was a little surprised during the Hall of Fame induction ceremony! Daniel Johns, the singer from Silverchair, actually appeared via a pre-recorded video to honor You Am I. It definitely caught a lot of people off guard – it was a bit of an unexpected moment, and everyone was doing a double take!
The 46-year-old musician seemed unsteady and nervous as he briefly introduced himself, shielding his face with large sunglasses and a fedora hat.
During his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Johns explained that Silverchair wouldn’t have existed without the influence of You Am I’s hit song from the 1990s, ‘Berlin Chair’.
Johns said this band completely transformed his perspective, and he believes they had a similar impact on many others.
Fans of Silverchair were excited last month when band members interacted on social media, sparking hopes for a possible reunion.

The lead singer, Johns, recently used Instagram to share details about his new short film, ‘What If The Future Never Happened,’ which is based on his own life experiences.
Johns shared two photos that showed him with actor Rasmus King, who plays Johns in the short.
The singer is going on tour to show his short film and then participate in a one-hour discussion about his life and career.
Daniel described the images as feeling like a faded, distorted memory of childhood, comparing them to a heavily copied VHS tape.
The show blends truth and imagination, and it’s up to the viewers to decide where reality ends and fantasy begins. Newcastle and Brisbane shows are sold out, but tickets are still available for Sydney and Melbourne – check our bio for the link!
The post quickly received a lot of comments, including one from Ben Gillies, who used to be in the band Silverchair.
The drummer shared that Johns had shown Gillies an early viewing of the movie.
Hey Dan, just wanted to say I really enjoyed the preview screening – it was fantastic! Sending you and the whole team my best wishes for a successful launch with the shows. I’m genuinely excited for you all!

Silverchair fans were surprised to see the post, considering Daniel Johns, Ben Gillies, and bassist Chris Joannou reportedly had a falling out when the band broke up in 2011.
Gillies’ post received a lot of positive feedback, with many fans expressing hope that the popular indie rock band would get back together to perform or record music.
‘That’s beautiful, man,’ one fan wrote.
Don’t worry about the music – I really hope we can all stay friends and enjoy growing old together, laughing about everything. Friendship means the world. We only live once, so here’s to lasting bonds – long live our group!
Someone else commented, happily writing, ‘It’s so nice to see you here! This makes me really happy.’
Someone else commented, ‘@bengillies888, this is fantastic! I’m sure you understand how much this means to fans.’
