We spent two weeks testing the GTPlayer GT905 RGB Gaming Chair to see if it’s truly comfortable for the price. We were pleasantly surprised by what we found.
Choosing a gaming chair can feel overwhelming, with prices varying so widely – from affordable options to ones that cost a fortune. Many brands claim their chairs offer lasting comfort, good support, and high-quality construction, making it difficult to figure out which ones are actually worth the money.
I spent two weeks testing the GTPlayer GT905 RGB Gaming Chair, which is part of their Aura RGB Series. It’s much more affordable than most high-end gaming chairs, and promises comfort, stability, and cool RGB lighting without being too expensive. Here are my thoughts after using it every day for both gaming and general computer use.
Comfort & Ergonomics: Can the GT905 handle long gaming sessions?
So, is the Aura RGB Series GT905 RGB Gaming Chair comfortable? Absolutely! It’s surprisingly comfortable – even compared to my previous chair, the Razer Iskur V2, which costs twice as much. I was really impressed with how comfortable and stable it is.
There are two levers to control the chair. One lever adjusts the height, and it offers a good range of adjustment. Even though I’m 6 feet 3 inches tall, I was able to easily raise the seat to the perfect height for my monitor.
The chair’s second recline lever, labeled ‘RCL,’ is a particularly clever feature and my personal favorite. It lets the chair tilt naturally with your movements – perfect for relaxing while watching something or easily turning to chat with people. Plus, it automatically returns to an upright position as you sit up, so you don’t have to manually adjust it like you often do with other gaming chairs.
The armrests are comfortable and offer good support, but their height isn’t adjustable – they’re fixed in place.
This chair excels in keeping you cool and comfortable. Even during extended gaming sessions, it didn’t feel hot or sweaty, likely due to its breathable materials.
Build Quality & Materials
Frame Strength: Strong
Wheels/Base: Smooth
Upholstery Quality: Very good
Stability / Noise: Small creaks
The Aura RGB Series GT905 RGB Gaming Chair feels well-built and uses quality materials. During our testing, the frame proved sturdy, and the wheels and base worked perfectly.
The fabric was higher quality than I anticipated and looked just like it did in the pictures.
Honestly, this thing feels super solid and safe to use. It’s pretty quiet most of the time, but if I make a really quick, jerky movement – like if I lean back suddenly while it’s locked – it’ll sometimes creak a little. But for normal gaming, it’s totally silent.
RGB Lighting: The core appeal of LED Gaming Chairs
One of the chair’s main draws is its RGB lighting. The LED lights are cleverly built into the sides of the chair without sacrificing comfort. You can easily turn them on by plugging the USB connector into the back.
The cable is a good length, around 3 to 4 metres. The RGB lighting cable connects at the back of the chair, but there’s a handy pouch to tuck it away if you don’t want to use the RGB lighting feature.
You can personalize the RGB lighting using the LYNCK app, available on the Apple Store. Alternatively, it works right out of the box with a perfectly good default setting, which I thought was sufficient.
Assembly & Setup
Ease of Assembly: 9.5/10
Time to Build: 40 minutes
Instructions Quality: Excellent
If you’re comfortable with basic assembly, like putting together IKEA furniture, you should be able to put this gaming chair together in about 30 to 40 minutes by yourself.
The instructions for the GT905 are really well-written and easy to understand. They even include helpful advice to prevent common errors while you’re putting it together.
Just a heads-up: some of the screws look alike in length, but they’re actually different widths, so pay attention! The kit includes just 26 screws, 4 washers, and 4 caps – it’s a pretty simple build, and you’ll have your GTPlayer GT905 put together quickly!
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Excellent value for money
- Great reclining range
- Super comfortable and sturdy
- Wheels very smooth
- Customizable RGB/LED Lighting
Cons
- Lumbar pillow has no strap
- Foot rest basic and not particularly useful
- armrest position fixed
The GTPlayer GT905 is a great value for a gaming chair, especially considering its affordable price. It’s surprisingly well-built and comfortable, and it’s easy to move around. The reclining feature works flawlessly, letting you easily switch between a focused gaming or work setup and a relaxed position.
I only had two main gripes with the chair.
One minor issue is that the lumbar pillow doesn’t have a way to attach it to the chair, so it slides down whenever you stand up and needs to be repositioned. It’s a little frustrating, but not a major problem.
The footrest worked okay, but I didn’t really find it useful – it’s quite simple. Honestly, if you’re a dedicated gamer, you probably wouldn’t be relaxing with your feet up anyway. It’s just not something most serious gamers would do.
