Three boosted shiny Pokémon feature in the Growing Up event in Pokémon GO.

During the “Growing Up” event in Pokémon GO, trainers have an increased opportunity to capture three well-known shiny Pokémons. This event not only enhances the chances of finding a shiny version in eggs, but also from wild encounters. Essentially, trainers can go out and seek as many of these featured Pokémons as they desire.

The “Growing Up” event in Pokémon GO will take place from Friday, May 2nd, 10:00 a.m., through Wednesday, May 7th, 2025, 8:00 p.m., local time. During this duration, trainers have ample opportunity to enjoy the benefits being offered!

Event Bonuses

The following bonuses will be active during the event:

  • 2× XP for evolving Pokémon.
  • 2× Candy from hatching Eggs.
  • Increased chance to hatch Shiny Wimpod.
  • Increased chance to encounter Shiny Magikarp, Shiny Swablu, and Shiny Wimpod.
  • Increased chance to encounter XXS and XXL Pokémon in the wild.

Take advantage of boosted shiny odds and increased XXL Pokémon 

During the current Pokémon GO event, we’re seeing some exceptionally powerful bonuses, including doubled experience points (XP) when evolving Pokémon. This is an excellent method for trainers to quickly increase their levels because normally, these double XP events only occur as part of a Spotlight Hour bonus. During the event, the following Pokémon will appear in the wild:

  • Magikarp
  • Wailmer
  • Swablu
  • Foongus
  • Dedenne
  • Cutiefly
  • Wimpod
  • Rookidee
  • Nymble

In battle scenarios (PvP), Rookidee significantly shines when it evolves into Corviknight. Similarly, Foongus becomes more potent after being enhanced with Stardust. Make sure to pay close attention to these, along with the three Pokémon that have been boosted and made shiny.

Furthermore, starting from May 2nd, we’ll be adding some fresh Pokémon into the 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km Egg groups as well.

2 km Eggs:

  • Happiny
  • Riolu
  • Wimpod

5 km Eggs:

  • Mime Jr.

10 km Eggs:

  • Toxel

For the first time since the GO Wild Event in November 2024, Toxel has appeared in the game. Many trainers are eagerly awaiting this shiny find, making this addition particularly thrilling. Moreover, Riolu is always a delightful discovery when hatching eggs. Mega Lucario, being a potent Pokémon, is also a welcome sight.

Special Growing Up bonuses for Pokémon GO players in Japan and Korea

Additionally, this event offers exclusive rewards for trainers residing in Japan and South Korea. These rewards will be available only during a unique two-day span, specifically on the 4th and 5th of May. Here are the perks:

1. Increased XP from battles.
2. A chance to encounter rare Pokémon.
3. Double Stardust earned from catching Pokémon.

  • Timed Research awarding XP, Stardust, one Lucky Egg, and more!
  • Complete Field Research tasks to earn Wimpod Candy and encounters with Tandemaus.
  • Evolve Riolu to get a Lucario that knows the Fast Attack Force Palm.
