Groundbreaking ’90s drama lands new UK streaming home
Groundbreaking ’90s show Dawson’s Creek has found a new streaming home in the UK.
The complete run of the teen drama series, airing from 1998 to 2003, can now be streamed on Prime Video, thanks to your subscription.
Earlier, you could stream the entire series on ITVX, and it’s still there (for the time being). But if you don’t have ITVX Premium but do subscribe to ad-free Amazon Prime Video, you now have the chance to watch all 128 episodes without any interruptions from ads.
In the television series titled “Dawson’s Creek“, starring James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams, we follow a group of friends as they navigate their teenage years at high school and continue their journey through college.
I dived headfirst into a world where themes like death, homophobia, class disparities, love, and heartache reigned supreme. This groundbreaking show sparked a tsunami of American teen dramas, including the likes of The OC, Gilmore Girls, and One Tree Hill.
As a devoted viewer, I can’t forget the iconic “crying Dawson” meme from the show, a moment that was initially met with disdain by James Van Der Beek himself. However, over time, he seemed to embrace it wholeheartedly.
In a conversation with Digital Spy earlier, he mentioned: “For six years, I’ve worked on a TV show that is now reduced to a brief clip of me shedding tears.
After six years on the job, it all boils down to a mere two seconds. It’s almost as if we had never anticipated something like this before, but it’s just so funny, I can’t help but adore it.
The thing that struck me as incredibly amusing was how genuinely moving that scene from the filming was. To put it simply, that’s why it made me laugh so heartily. I don’t believe I was instructed to cry – it was more of an unexpected, spontaneous emotion that comes with embodying a character over such an extended period.
Reflecting on that instance, it seems surreal how it’s been twisted into a tool for teasing others online. This unexpected turn of events brings me endless laughter. In essence, one could describe it as an unforeseen positive outcome from my professional journey.
Dawson’s Creek can now be streamed on Prime Video and ITVX.
