Poldark actress Eleanor Tomlinson will lead the cast of a suspenseful new psychological thriller called The Family Secret. Joining her in the rural mystery series is Matthew Lewis, known for his role in Harry Potter.
Originally revealed by 5 earlier in the year, The Family Secret is being called a captivating and intense psychological thriller that explores the question: could your understanding of your history be completely wrong?
The new show centers around Tomlinson playing Amanda Blakefield, a woman contentedly married to her husband, Jimmy (played by Lewis). They are parents to a son named Luke (James Younger).

Things really start falling apart for me when I get tangled up with The Worrall Family. Joining Lewis and Tomlinson in the cast are The Thick of It star Rebecca Front, playing Martin’s wife Fiona, and All Creatures Great and Small actor Callum Woodhouse, who will portray his son Anthony.
The cast also includes Stephen Tompkinson, known for Wild At Heart, Paula Wilcox from Upstart Crow, Danielle Walters who appeared in Kill Your Friends, and Nina Wadia, a star of Eastenders.
Production of The Family Secret has begun, with filming happening in various locations throughout the North East of England. The series is anticipated to premiere on 5 in 2026.
Speaking about the upcoming story, commissioning editor Paul Testar shared in a statement: “The Family Secret delves into how easily families can be broken and the consequences of secrets kept for years, featuring a fantastic performance from Eleanor Tomlinson and a talented cast.”
