Lily James and Riz Ahmed thriller Relay has just been added to a streaming platform in the UK.
Directed by David Mackenzie, known for Hell or High Water, and written by Justin Piasecki, Relay tells the story of Ash, a New York City-based problem-solver who aids whistleblowers. He protects his identity by using a relay service for the deaf.
James plays Sarah Grant, a woman risking everything to reveal the harmful side effects of genetically modified wheat produced by Cybo Sementis Research Institutes.

I was so excited when I heard Relay finally hit Prime Video in the UK after being in cinemas last year! It’s been a huge hit already – I checked this morning and it’s currently number 3 in the most-watched movies on the streamer. Definitely worth a watch!
The cast of Relay includes Sam Worthington (known for Avatar), Willa Fitzgerald from Reacher, and actors Jared Abrahamson and Victor Garber.
The movie is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a rating of 82% out of 143 reviews.
Reviewers are calling the series Relay both “gripping” and “enthralling,” comparing its suspenseful atmosphere to that of classic thriller films and shows (according to reviews in Kermode and Mayo’s Take and The Times).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new film Relay is an exciting and fast-paced thriller that successfully evokes the style of classic mystery action films.
Time Out also noted the film’s classic thriller feel, describing it as “an old-school thriller with a drum-tight script and real style,” adding that they were fully engaged by the time the characters reached for their guns.
So, I’m really excited for James’ next movie! It’s called Cliffhanger, and it’s a thriller set in the mountains. Apparently, it’s a remake of the old Sylvester Stallone movie with the same name – I remember hearing about that one years ago, so I’m curious to see what they do with it now.
The new version of the story stars Pierce Brosnan and Nell Tiger Free, and follows James as Naomi, a skilled climber who must save her sister and father when their climbing group is taken hostage.
Jaume Collet-Serra, who directed Orphan, directed the film. The screenplay is by Mark Bianculli and Melanie Toast, based on a story by Ana Lily Amirpour, known for A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.
Relay is streaming on Prime Video in the UK.
