According to Stephanie Wood’s popular book titled “Nine Perfect Strangers,” actress Asher Keddie portrays the character of Birdie Bell, a magazine feature writer who believes she has found her ideal partner when she encounters successful rancher Joe (David Wenham) on a dating platform.

In simpler terms, when the author Birdie Bell encounters well-off rancher Joe through a dating app, she quickly immerses herself in the love relationship that she had been expecting all along.

As she delves deeper, she starts to ignore a nagging feeling that something isn’t right, choosing instead to be captivated by Joe’s enticing assurances.

A fake tale delves into the realm of deceit, offering a gripping and thrilling examination of the false realities that life presents to us. This involves not only the deceptions imposed upon us by others but also the self-deceptions we create.

Wood has verified that the movie “Fake” is inspired by a “real-life account of a distressing romantic experience I went through with a swindler.

She revealed that he’s mostly a storyteller, capable of making even the most outrageous tales seem believable,” she said.

As a believer, I’d say I firmly believe he talks himself into the authenticity of his tales. It wasn’t about losing cash to Joe, because he never even requested money from me. However, I found myself struggling with trust – not just in him, but also in myself and others around me.

Anya Beyersdorf, the one responsible for adapting Wood’s book into a TV series, mentioned: “I wish that this production will enable us to identify a ‘Joe’ in real life and promptly move away from him.

With “Fake”, our goal isn’t to narrate a tale for you, but rather to immerse you in an experience where your trust is shattered by deception.

Fake will stream on ITVX from April 27, and air weekly on ITV1 on Saturday evenings from May 3.
