BBC Radio 4 drama Central Intelligence is returning for a second season on 20 June.
Featuring Stephen Kunken, famously known for “A Spy Among Friends,” and Kim Cattrall, a star recognized from “Sex and the City,” “Central Intelligence” immerses listeners in the turbulent 1960s, ranging from the Bay of Pigs incident to the assassination of President John F Kennedy.
I’m thrilled to be stepping back into my role as the formidable CIA operative, Eloise Page! In 1947, I was among the inaugural members of this esteemed organization, and over the years, I climbed through the ranks to become one of its most influential women.
Kunken stars as Ed Lansdale, described in the series as ‘the CIA’s maverick lone-wolf super-hero.’
Ahead of the upcoming second season, Kunken revealed his reasons for taking on the character of Lansdale, a trailblazer in the field of psychological warfare.

Looking forward to the second installment, Kunken discussed what attracted him to the role of Lansdale, who was a groundbreaking figure in the realm of psychological warfare.

As a passionate enthusiast, I find immense joy in portraying characters on the periphery. It’s truly a unique blessing that comes with acting – the chance to immerse myself in roles from our history, helping me grasp both our current reality and envision our future.
In a scenario where artists joined the Office of Strategic Services and Intelligence, I envision us exhibiting the same creative ingenuity that Ed is known for.
Reflecting on Landsdale’s tale in 2025, I find myself inspired. His narrative serves as a powerful reminder that everyday individuals, fueled by creativity and determination, have the power to influence and even redefine the destiny of entire nations.

The drama series “Central Intelligence” belongs to BBC’s spotlight, known as the Limelight strand. Its second season will commence airing on BBC Radio 4 at 2:15 PM on June 20th (Friday).
It will also be available on BBC Sounds where you can also catch up on the first season now.
The debut print issue of Digital Spy’s magazine, titled “British Comedy Legends,” is available! You can purchase it at your local newsstands or online for only £3.99.
