I just saw Claire Sweeney at Victoria Station, and my heart absolutely broke for her. She looked so incredibly sad, and it’s just so clear she’s devastated by the loss of Ricky Hatton. It’s the first time I’ve seen her since the news, and honestly, it was just heartbreaking to witness. They were so close, and she just seemed completely lost in grief.
The former world boxing champion died on Sunday at the age of 46. He was discovered at his home in Greater Manchester, and authorities have stated his death is not considered suspicious.
Claire, 54, known for her role on Coronation Street, was wearing a casual brown tracksuit as she wheeled her luggage through the train station.
Weighing down with her luggage, she pulled her long blonde hair back into a ponytail as she hurried to catch her train leaving the city.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE it! She and Ricky got together after filming Dancing On Ice back in January 2024 – they were just so cute together! It’s so sad they broke up after eight months, but honestly, I heard they’re still really good friends, which is just… perfect. I’m still hoping they’ll get back together, though! They just seemed meant to be!
Shortly before he passed away, Claire sent a heartwarming message of encouragement after Ricky revealed he was coming back to boxing.

He had started coaching after retiring from boxing, but he was planning a comeback fight in December.
She recently posted a video celebrating his comeback to the sport, writing ‘This is brilliant’ as the caption.
Claire shared that she and Ricky had been friends for 25 years before they became romantically involved. Ricky added that it was good they found each other after both of their previous relationships ended.
The actress had been dating no one since splitting from her ex-husband, Daniel Reilly, the father of her son Jaxon, back in 2017.
The couple broke up in December 2024, after dating for eight months, despite having recently shared a holiday together in Tenerife.
According to a source, Claire and Ricky have ended their romantic relationship but are still good friends. They realized they’re better suited as pals than as a couple.
They have a strong connection and enjoy spending time together, but they lead very different lives.
Claire and Ricky remained on friendly terms after their relationship ended.

Police responded to a call this morning at 6:45am regarding a man found dead on Bowlacre Road in Hyde, Tameside. The man was 46 years old. Authorities currently do not suspect foul play.
Friends became worried when Ricky didn’t show up to an event where one of his boxers was competing, according to the Daily Mail.
The boxer, recognized with an MBE in 2007 for his contributions to sports, had frequently discussed his battles with mental health issues and drug addiction.
As the news of his death broke, Ricky’s celebrity friends paid tribute to the sportsman.
Greg Rutherford, an Olympic athlete, was a contestant on the 2024 season of Dancing On Ice with Ricky, and he posted a picture of them both happily skating together.
‘Utterly heart breaking news,’ Greg wrote.
Meeting Ricky was amazing! I was completely starstruck and immediately asked for a photo. I told him how much I admired his work, and he was incredibly kind and genuinely interested in talking with me the whole time.
Even in the short time I knew him, his kindness was always apparent. We talked a couple of times about mental health, sharing our struggles with each other. I opened up to him about things I hadn’t shared with anyone else, and he offered incredibly supportive words that I’ll always appreciate.

He was a wonderful person and truly one of the best boxers of all time. We’ll all miss him dearly, and our hearts go out to his family.
Ricky’s Dancing On Ice partner, Robin Johnstone, shared a heartfelt message, saying Ricky was making great progress before his passing.
She told The Mirror: ‘I’m devastated. It’s so sad. Ricky was a friend.
I’ll always remember seeing him watching our performance during the Torvill and Dean show. He was on the ice with his daughters, and his face just glowed with excitement – they were all so thrilled to watch us. His children meant the world to him.
He was the partner I stayed in touch with the most after the show. He was really focused on training and seemed great – he even checked in on how we were doing. We were touring with Torvill and Dean at the time, and his daughters came to see a performance. We’ve met them several times since then.
Amber Davies, also a star of Love Island, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram about Ricky Norwood, saying she was thinking of his family and friends. She remembered him as a genuinely kind person during their time together on Dancing On Ice and expressed her sadness at his passing.
Oti Mabuse, a judge on Dancing On Ice while Ricky Hatton was involved with the show, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. She expressed her sympathy for Hatton, describing him as a genuinely kind and sweet person who was a father figure to many of the celebrities on the show. She also included the hashtag #RIP.
David Beckham also shared his own tribute to Ricky, posting a snap of him from his boxing heyday.
He shared that Ricky was truly unique and his loss was devastating. He added that Ricky was a beloved and special person to his many fans.
