As I delve into the captivating tale of Nicole Kidman, her journey from Honolulu to Hollywood is nothing short of inspiring. Her life story is a testament to resilience, love, and the profound impact that family can have on an individual’s success.

Nicole Kidman seemed melancholic when she departed from Australia alongside her husband Keith Urban and their two daughters, following the funeral of her mother, Janelle.

The 57-year-old actress went back to her hometown, Sydney, to be with her family – her younger sister Antonia among them – for a heartfelt farewell to her cherished mother who had passed away.

Janelle passed away recently, at the age of 84, only a few hours prior to Nicole receiving the prestigious Best Actress award for her performance in “Babygirl” at the Venice Film Festival.

On Tuesday, Nicole and her spouse, Keith, along with their teenage girls Sunday Rose (aged 16) and Faith Margaret (aged 14), were in attendance at the funeral of Janelle held at St Francis Xavier Church.

Following uniting with extended members of the Kidman family, they were spotted at Sydney International Airport on a Thursday, preparing to leave Australia by airplane.

Despite being unsure about their destination, it seemed probable that they were heading back to the United States, as they owned properties in Manhattan, Nashville, New York, and Beverly Hills.

Nicole appeared thoughtful as she rode in the backseat of the car en route to the airport, accompanied by her family. Sitting in the front seat was country music artist Keith, who is 56 years old.

She appeared to be all set for traveling, maintaining comfort in her black jeans, dark long-sleeve shirt, a black cap, and sunglasses.

In a spacious black bag, the actress carrying “Big Little Lies” fame arrived quietly at the airport with her daughters Sunday and Faith, both by her side.

The teenagers, standing close by their mother, offered her support and appeared prepared for a lengthy air travel with their shoulder-slung bags.

Keith, the one standing by Nicole following Janelle’s passing, carried a relaxed demeanor, dressed casually in a black t-shirt and camouflage-patterned cargo pants.

At Janelle’s funeral this past week, everyone in the family presented a harmonious front while bidding farewell to our cherished matriarch, joining forces with the extended Kidman family.

At the event, it seemed that Bella and Connor, the older children Nicole adopted with her former spouse Tom Cruise, were not present.

They attended the event alongside Nicole’s sister Antonia, her children Lucia (age 26), Hamish (age 23), and Sybella Hawley (age 17), whom she had with her late spouse Angus Hawley.

Antonia has another child named James, who was shared with Angus (who passed away in April 2015 due to a suspected heart attack). Subsequently, she had two more sons, Nicholas and Alexander, with her second spouse, Craig Marran.

At the private ceremony, the Kidmans were accompanied by their dear friends, such as television personality Richard Wilkins (age 69) and his partner in makeup, Mia Hawkswell (age 47), who work for Channel Nine.

At the event, we found Australian television host Peter Overton along with his wife Jessica Rowe, as well as their daughters Allegra and Giselle.

For several years, the Overton and Kidman-Urban families have enjoyed a strong bond, celebrating milestones such as ringing in the New Year together at their luxurious North Sydney penthouse on January 1, 2023.

On September 19, 2014, I had the solemn duty of serving as a pallbearer for my dear friend Nicole’s father, Antony, during his funeral. This heartfelt ceremony took place in the very same church where we bid farewell to another cherished soul, Janelle, not too long ago.

In Singapore, Antony passed away at the age of 75, suspected to be from a heart attack. His family held a more public farewell for him, with many well-known individuals like Russell Crowe expressing their condolences.

Recently, I took to Instagram to pay a heartfelt homage to my beloved mother, who we lost last month. Among the photos we shared were some treasured family moments that had never been seen before.

In the article, the star of The Perfect Couple took a moment to express gratitude towards her numerous followers and well-wishers, as they sympathized with her during this difficult period of mourning.

Nicole expressed in a shared statement that my sister and our entire family are grateful for the immense affection and compassion we’ve experienced this past week,” was one way to paraphrase the original sentence.

‘Each message of love and appreciation sent to us about our beloved Mother holds a deeper value than words can convey. On behalf of the entire family, we appreciate your understanding and respect for our need for privacy as we support one another during this time.’

A week prior to the post being published, Nicole had to depart from the Venice Film Festival due to the heartbreaking news of her mother’s demise.

Today, I landed in Venice, only to learn soon afterward that my remarkable and valiant mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, had sadly passed away. This news was shared by director Halina Reijn, as stated by Nicole.

I’m overwhelmed and must attend to my loved ones, yet this recognition truly belongs to her. She molded me, steered me, and crafted the person I am today.

‘I am beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heart-breaking, and my heart is broken. We love you all.’

During a chat on the Fresh Air podcast in January 2022, Nicole mentioned that she had returned to Sydney for a while due to her mother’s health concerns and provided some brief updates on the situation.

Her comments came as she told how she had taken Janelle to the Art Gallery of New South Wales after hours, where they saw the Matisse: Life & Spirit exhibition, describing it as a ‘soothing balm’ amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

She mentioned that our main purpose is to look after her (my mother) and keep her company with all the grandkids around,” she shared.

Fortunately for us, despite the ongoing spread of Omicron within our country, we managed to visit the gallery after hours yesterday and introduce her to the Matisse exhibit. Given my upbringing surrounded by the arts, this experience served as a calming comfort – much like Matisse himself was last night.

Nicole often spoke about her mother’s support and influence on her career over the years.

Nicole was born in Honolulu, later moving to be brought up in Sydney under the care of Janelle and her psychiatrist father Antony, along with her sister Antonia.

As a teen, Nicole chased her dream of becoming an actor, and her parents were always there to encourage her, eventually leading her to international stardom.

Over the years, they both stayed actively engaged in her professional life, and just recently, Nicole openly shared that she still seeks guidance from her mom.

Back in November, I found myself utterly thrilled as Big Little Lies’ radiant star disclosed her secret habit. You see, amidst myriad professional stylists at her beck and call, she’d still seek Janelle’s fashion advice for her ensembles. As a fan, it’s heartening to know that even stars crave the wisdom of their peers!

As a testament to our deep connection, allow me to share that my mom remains an integral part of my life – she’s consistently engaged in the choices I make regarding my wardrobe.

It’s well-known that Nicole has a penchant for bold fashion statements, yet she credits her passion for clothing to her mother and grandmother, who initially nurtured this love within her.

As a devotee of style, I’ve long harbored a deep-seated passion for fashion. At the recent Planet Omega pop-up launch in New York, my enthusiasm bubbled over as I shared my unbridled love for this art form.

As a youngster, I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by two strong influences who nurtured my appreciation for style – my grandmother and mother. Both of them had an affinity for fashion and possessed the skillful hand to sew exquisite garments. They admired beauty in clothing, and they could transform their ideas into tangible, breathtaking creations.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’ve found myself captivated by the art of sewing, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and more – all practices I was fortunate enough to observe in my childhood home. It seems that when these skills are passed down through generations, they become deeply ingrained in our hearts, cultivating a love for these timeless crafts.

During an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald in May 2020, Nicole expressed her feelings of longing for her mother while residing overseas in the U.S.

At that moment, she expressed a desire for sharing a cup of tea with Mom, enjoying a chat on the balcony about life, and receiving guidance on what she ought to do.

In September 2014, when Nicole’s father passed away at the age of 75 due to a heart attack, she found herself equally close to him and deeply affected by his loss.

As a devoted admirer, I can attest that the sudden passing of an esteemed Oscar-winning actress left an indelible impact on me, along with a series of subsequent losses that followed, which I found incredibly moving.

In 2020, she told the Sydney Morning Herald that death has unexpectedly come to me. Unlike some who have experienced a prolonged dying process by caring for their loved ones, my encounters with death have been immediate; people have simply been taken from me instead.

“This event has occurred multiple times, and each time I mention it, I feel a chill run down my spine because I worry it might happen again. I continue to harbor a great deal of apprehension about it.
