Actress Jessica Capshaw, known for her role on Grey’s Anatomy, shared that she tried out for the third season of The White Lotus.
This year, the popular HBO show made its comeback, presenting a fresh cast gearing up for an extraordinary vacation. In one of the hotel’s guest rooms, we found childhood companions Jaclyn, Laurie, and Kate, embarking on a girls’ getaway that unexpectedly exposed the fissures in their friendship.
Lately on her “Call It What It Is” podcast, Capshaw disclosed that she tried out for the part of Kate, but it ended up being played by Leslie Bibb instead.
As a die-hard admirer of the series, I recall the thrill when I secured an audition for one of the coveted roles, specifically Leslie Bibb’s part. The moment I received the call, I couldn’t help but feel like a schoolgirl with butterflies in her stomach, knowing how much I adore the show.
It’s consistently enjoyable to assemble an audition, watch where it leads, and eventually witness it succeed.
The star commended Bibb for his depiction of the character, noting that every performer brings their own distinct interpretation to the role.
It’s incredibly amazing and fascinating how unique the casting process is, and perhaps not surprising, since we’re all quite distinct. Each of us has a very individual perspective on it. So when I saw Leslie, I was struck by it, thinking ‘Wow!’ I was completely captivated, and I thought she was absolutely terrific.
Even though she didn’t secure a role in the current season, Capshaw humorously stated that she would continue to audition, as that’s what she has been doing for Grey’s.
The actress reminisced about having auditioned on three separate occasions before she landed the role of Arizona Robbins in the medical series. She expressed her enthusiasm for the show and her determination to secure the part: “I simply couldn’t get enough of Grey’s Anatomy, so I said, ‘Count me in for every audition!’
As a fan, I can only cross my fingers that Mike White and his masterpiece, The White Lotus, will need only two more episodes to wrap up. I’m ready to keep rolling with it!
