Grey’s Anatomy star returning to show after 17 years
As a seasoned gamer of life and TV shows, I can hardly contain my excitement! Kali Rocha, who played Dr. Sydney Heron back in the good ol’ days of Grey’s Anatomy, is returning to the show after 17 long years! This news has sent shockwaves through the Grey’s fandom, and I’m no exception.
Grey’s Anatomy star Kali Rocha is returning to the show after 17 years.
In about two decades, the actor originally cast as Dr. Sydney Heron will reprise his role in three episodes of the forthcoming season of the ABC drama series (as reported by TVLine).
As a thrilled fan, I’m gearing up to slip back into my role for season 21, a role I first took on way back in season 2 of Grey’s Anatomy. My character, a fourth-year resident tasked with supervising the interns, was initially introduced when Bailey went on maternity leave.
On the television series, Dr. Heron oversaw the internships of characters such as Sandra Oh’s Cristina Yang, Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey, and Katherine Heigl’s Izzie Stevens.
For the following two seasons, Rocha landed a regular part, and one of her storylines featured a date with Patrick Dempsey’s character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, better known as McDreamy. (Grey’s Anatomy)
The word has spread that Rocha is coming back to ‘Grey’s’, following the news that Midori Francis (Dr Mika Yasuda) and Jake Borelli (Dr Levi Schmitt), who are part of the cast, plan to leave the series during this current season.
The specifics about how Dr. Sydney Heron will reappear on the upcoming series, slated for release in September, remain undecided as of now.
Originally hinting at the increased on-screen presence of Ellen Pompeo for Season 21, Camilla Luddington, playing Jo Wilson, expressed being taken aback after reading the script for the first episode, stating she felt “quite shaken up”.
As a seasoned actor with years of experience under my belt, I can attest to the unpredictability that comes with our profession. Just a few weeks ago, while casually reading a script in bed, I was taken aback – or as they say in olden times, “shooketh.” You see, we actors never know what surprises await us on set, and that’s precisely why I find this line of work so fascinating. The element of uncertainty keeps me on my toes and fuels my passion for bringing stories to life. It’s a rollercoaster ride, but one I wouldn’t trade for anything else.
I was utterly astonished, thoroughly impressed, and yes, we’ll be returning the following week. Interestingly enough, I have a rehearsal scheduled for tomorrow.
Season 21 of “Grey’s Anatomy” is set to debut on ABC in the United States on Thursday, September 26 at 10pm Eastern Time. If you’re in the UK and want to catch up on previous seasons, they are available for streaming on Disney+.
