Grey’s Anatomy star lands next lead movie role in new horror

As a die-hard fan of Grey’s Anatomy and a connoisseur of horror films, I am beyond thrilled to see Midori Francis stepping into a lead role for the chilling new movie, Saccharine! With her captivating performance as Dr Mika Yasuda, it’s no surprise that she’s been tapped to star in this terrifying tale.

Actress Midori Francis, known for her work on “Grey’s Anatomy,” will take on another leading part in an upcoming horror movie.

According to Deadline, the actor who portrayed Dr. Mika Yasuda in a medical drama has been added to the cast for Saccharine, a new production by writer-director Natalie Erika James (Relic and Apartment 7A).

According to the logline, the movie “Saccharine” features Francis portraying Hana, a medical student who is deeply in love and subsequently haunted by a vengeful spirit following her participation in a mysterious diet fad – consuming the remains of humans.

In the cast, Francis will be accompanied by Danielle Macdonald, known for her roles in “Patti Cake$” and “The Tourist”, who will portray Hana’s friend, while Madeleine Madden, recognized from “The Wheel of Time”, will take on the role of a fitness instructor.

James spoke about the project, stating, ‘There’s an overwhelming amount of harmful messages about weight and appearance that are present in our society as a whole.’ Regarding the project, he described it as a ‘bittersweet’ exploration into one woman’s battle with body image, self-worth, and compulsions driven by shame, presented through a unique blend of supernatural horror, queer perspective, and a touch of the absurd.’

Saccharine bursts from the pages, showcasing Natalie’s daring imagination,” Anna McLeish and Sarah Shaw noted. “Collaborating with her once more is a delightful treat for us. We eagerly anticipate seeing Midori, Danielle, and Madeleine breathe life into these remarkable characters.

The upcoming movie will be a collaborative effort between Carver Films and Thrum Films, with XYZ Films taking charge of global distribution. As of now, the release date for this production remains undisclosed, but filming has reportedly started in Melbourne, Australia.

This update follows Francis’ departure from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ earlier this year, having been a part of three consecutive seasons (seasons 19 to 21). It seems the move was mutually agreed upon, as Francis expressed interest in pursuing different projects.

Saccharine doesn’t have a scheduled release yet.
