Grey’s Anatomy star lands major role in “gritty” star-studded drama

Actress Stefania Spampinato, known for her role in Grey’s Anatomy, has been added to the ensemble of Taylor Sheridan’s gritty, high-profile drama series Landman for its second season.

In a reported turn of events, the actress playing Dr Carina DeLuca-Bishop on ABC’s medical drama and its spin-off Station 19 is set to take on a new role – that of Galino’s wife, with Andy Garcia portraying crime boss Galino. This development was hinted in the finale of the first season (as reported by Deadline).

The television show on Paramount+, jointly created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, narrates the story of Tommy Norris, an oil executive based in Texas who’s struggling. He aims to propel his firm to the pinnacle of the business world amidst an upsurge in the industry. (Billy Bob Thornton plays Tommy.)

Featuring Demi Moore and Jon Hamm, the initial season of “Landman” garnered largely favorable responses when it debuted in November. At present, the drama boasts a high approval rating of 78% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 36 reviews.

The website’s critics note that, similar to other shows written by Taylor Sheridan, Landman explores many of the same territories. However, with Billy Bob Thornton starring in it, this Texas-set drama becomes a highly engaging and enjoyable viewing experience.

In our analysis, we stated that Landman portrayed a character struggling with contemporary apprehensions who is easy to support, maintaining the rustic frontier ambiance and archetypal tough Western persona reminiscent of Sheridan’s hit series, Yellowstone.

The series was vividly depicted by The Guardian, who labeled it as raw and gritty, while Slant Magazine commented that it provided a candid, unfiltered perspective on a controversial profession and those linked to it.

The primary reason to tune into the show “Landman” is Thornton, who infuses charm and authenticity into speeches that might not typically be as engaging as they are. According to AV Club, while Chicago Sun-Times believes that the series possesses all the key elements needed for a long-lasting success.

In their reviews, TheWrap and The Globe and Mail praised Landman, finding it delightful due to its engaging performances. TheWrap described it as a triumph, while The Globe and Mail labeled it as being absurdly entertaining and hard to look away from.

Landman is currently watching Grey’s Anatomy on Paramount+. In the United States, new episodes of season 21 air every Thursday at 10pm ET on ABC. For those in the UK, previous seasons can be streamed on Disney+.
