Grey’s Anatomy star Kevin McKidd dedicates episode to late loved one
As a devoted fan of Grey’s Anatomy and a follower of Kevin McKidd’s journey through the series, I must say that last night’s episode was nothing short of poignant and powerful. The way McKidd seamlessly wove his personal loss into the narrative of Owen Hunt was truly moving, making it an experience that will be etched in my memory for a long time.
Actor Kevin McKidd, known for his role on Grey’s Anatomy, has chosen to honor his father Neil by dedicating the most recent episode of the medical series to him.
After directing the recent Grey’s Anatomy episode (November 21), the actor who plays Owen Hunt shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the show’s cast and team for their support following the loss of his father last month.
I can’t put into words the depth of my affection for these remarkable individuals who are not only bright and talented, but also passionate, generous, and most importantly kind. This heartfelt sentiment is evident in this lovely picture featuring Niko Terho, Harry Shum Jr, Alexis Floyd, Midori Francis, and Adelaide Kane,” he wrote alongside a touching photo with his co-stars.
“They truly kept me going through shooting tonight’s episode of @greysabc.”
He went on to say, “During that period, everyone involved – the actors, crew, and I – stood by me, providing support, helping me stand tall, and enabling me to persevere.
In tonight’s episode, the topics of mourning, affection, understanding, and compassion resonated deeply with me due to my personal loss of my father during filming.
McKidd expressed gratitude towards showrunner Meg Marinis for giving him the opportunity to return to his loved ones and rearrange his schedule, and also thanked Debbie Allen for stepping in during the days he was absent and providing support.
He ended by dedicating the episode to his late father, expressing it thus: “Though only perhaps Shonda among us has an episode of our series, I would still graciously like to personally dedicate my portions of tonight’s episode to my charming, witty, and joyful father, Neil McKidd.
