Actress Ellen Pompeo, known for her role in Grey’s Anatomy, has straightforwardly stated that it wouldn’t be logical for her to depart from the series.
In the year 2022, Pompeo reduced her on-screen presence in the ABC medical series, playing Dr. Meredith Grey, by adopting a less extensive role for Season 19.
Since 2005, Pompeo has consistently made appearances as a guest star on the show, featuring in several episodes during seasons 20 and 21.
In response to a query from El País about her intentions to depart the show, Pompeo stated that it would be both emotionally and financially irrational to do so.
In 2024 alone, the popular show was watched over a staggering one billion times. With each view, the companies responsible for its broadcast are raking in profits from our likenesses, vocal contributions, and visual appearances, as noted by Pompeo.
If I choose to step aside entirely, others will reap the benefits of my labor’s fruit for two decades, without me seeing a single penny.
She added: “It seems unfair to me that others are benefiting from my efforts. Also, the series holds significant emotional value for many. I wish to maintain a grateful outlook towards it.
Recently, in a discussion about her character’s future on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, Pompeo said to RadioTimes: “I can’t make any promises about the future since I’m not sure when the series will conclude.
I can’t predict what lies ahead, but I understand its significance for all concerned parties. I value the opportunity to keep participating.
I’m grateful for the freedom to immerse myself occasionally and then step away, seizing chances to delve into different experiences and foster my creativity. Yet, I remain connected to it all. Essentially, it’s just a great advantage.
