Grey’s Anatomy shuts down production
The hit show, Grey’s Anatomy, has been impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, causing a halt in its filming.
Due to the continuing catastrophe, at least ten people have lost their lives so far, and over a thousand residents have been forced to flee the city since the incident began in Palisades.
Several television series have temporarily halted production, such as Grey’s Anatomy, Abbott Elementary, the spin-off of Young Sheldon titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Hacks, NCIS, and Suits LA.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve been keeping a close eye on updates regarding our favorite shows, and according to Deadline, it seems like production is still paused as of January 9th. However, there’s some promising news: at least one major studio is planning to get back to work in the near future!
Apart from the lockdowns, the wildfires have additionally impacted the current award season, causing a shift in the announcement of the Oscar nominations from January 17th to the 19th.
The duration for casting votes has been lengthened as well, impacting numerous film screenings, competitions, and the construction of the Academy Museum in the process.
In a letter to its members, Academy CEO Bill Kramer expressed gratitude for their patience and understanding amidst these challenging times. He also expressed hope for everyone’s wellbeing and safety.
Multiple celebrity residences, including that of Paris Hilton, were unfortunately destroyed by the wildfires. Hilton herself expressed deep sadness as she watched her home in Malibu go up in flames on live television.
She posted on Instagram, “This house holds countless cherished moments for us. Here, Phoenix took his first steps, and it’s where we envisioned creating a lifetime of memories together with London.
In her post, she expressed sympathy by saying: “For everyone who’s lost their homes, personal mementos, and cherished pets, my heart goes out to them. I feel deep sorrow for those still at risk or grieving more substantial losses.
It’s almost beyond comprehension, the extent of the destruction. It’s deeply sad to think that countless people have nowhere to return to as their homes today, a place they once considered their own.
