Grey’s Anatomy icon lands exciting new role

As a long-time fan who has followed TR Knight’s career since his days as George O’Malley on Grey’s Anatomy, I am absolutely thrilled to see him take on this exciting new role in Stranger Things: The First Shadow! It’s always a delight to witness an actor with such a rich background and versatile talent step into a fresh challenge.

Grey’s Anatomy icon TR Knight has landed an exciting new role.

The actor known for portraying George O’Malley in the popular medical show has signed up for the Broadway adaptation of “Stranger Things: The First Shadow“.

Under the direction of Stephen Daldry and overseen by the Duffer Brothers, the much-awaited play made its debut at London’s Phoenix Theatre in December 2023.

After a successful premiere on the West End, the prequel play is now set to arrive in New York City, with performances beginning in 2025.

In my gaming world, I’ll be stepping into the shoes of Victor Creel, with Rosie Benton portraying Virginia Creel, Alex Breaux bringing Dr Brenner to life, Nicky Eldridge embodying Bob Newby, and Andrew Hovelson taking on the role of Principal Newby.

In addition to the main characters, we have Alison Jaye playing Joyce Maldonado, Gabrielle Nevaeh portraying Patty Newby, and Burke Swanson taking on the role of James Hopper Jr.

Previously declared, Louis McCartney steps into the role of Henry Creel for the production, having initially played it on the West End. Additional cast members will be revealed in January.

Starting from March 28, 2025, the play titled “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” will have its previews at the Marquis Theatre, and the official opening is set for April 22.

1959 finds Hawkins as an ordinary town with typical concerns. Young Jim Hopper grapples with a car that refuses to start, while Bob Newby’s sister dismisses his radio show ambitions. Meanwhile, Joyce Maldonado yearns to graduate and escape the town altogether. This sums up the plot for the production.

Upon the arrival of new student Henry Creel, his family discovers that beginning anew proves more challenging than anticipated, as remnants from their past seem to stretch over an impressive distance.

The production was highly praised in the West End, as critics admired its visually impressive scenes and creative stagecraft.

In 2001, Knight first appeared on Broadway in the revival of “Noises Off.” Since then, he has taken on roles in productions like “Tartuffe,” “A Life in the Theatre,” and “It’s Only a Play,” as well as an off-Broadway version of “The Merchant of Venice” that was recently staged.

🎫 Exciting news for all Stranger Things fans like me! The Broadway premiere of “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” kicks off on April 22, 2025. If you’re across the pond in London, you can catch its West End run at the Phoenix Theatre, and bookings are open until February 2025! Grab your tickets now before they vanish into the Upside Down!
