Gretchen Wilson reveals she was in a wheelchair for 6 MONTHS after horrific injury at her wedding
Gretchen Wilson revealed she had an accident at a wedding that left her leg ‘shattered.’
51-year-old country music singer, known as The Redneck Woman, has shared details about an injury that kept her confined to a wheelchair for extended periods of time.
She mentioned that an incident occurred during the time she was circle dancing with a six-year-old child, playing Ring Around the Rosie, as she accidentally slipped and lost her balance.
In her interview on Taste of Country Nights with Evan Paul this week, she mentioned that the event took place at a beach wedding and to make it more convenient for guests, they had laid out an artificial grass carpet (similar to Astroturf) over the sand.
The country music sensation, fresh off winning The Masked Singer, expressed that her ankle got injured at a speed of 100 miles per hour while stepping into one of the Astroturf’s holes, causing it to twist.

She confessed it was quite grotesque. Reminds you of the videos online where a foot is hanging backwards? Well, that was exactly what it looked like. After I fell, I just couldn’t stand up again.
She told the outlet that in the moment, she thought that she wouldn’t be able to perform again.
Additionally, Wilson mentioned that it was only after nine months had passed that she managed to apply any pressure onto the foot affected by her injury.
After spending several months recuperating, she was extended an invitation to become a part of The Masked Singer – a role that not just calls for singing but also demands dancing once more.
She acknowledged that she had declined a previous phone call, but now yearned for another chance on the stage and was eager to accept this new opportunity.
‘All the choreography, it was stressful, but it was good for me,’ she said.
She found it challenging, but it was incredibly beneficial for her, as it allowed her to demonstrate her abilities and gain self-confidence, which she shared during her reflection on her experience in the singing contest.
Wilson appeared on the 13th season of Fox’s reality show and won as the character Pearl.

At the beginning of this month, the nation’s beloved country singer, with a past marred by scandals and legal issues, expressed remorse when she unexpectedly won the Golden Mask award instead of Andy Grammer, known for his Boogie Woogie performances.
Wilson expressed great confidence that Boogie emerged as the winner. He found him to be an incredibly talented vocalist, as she shared with People, having released her latest album, ‘Ready To Get Rowdy,’ in 2017.
‘In my head, he had won it weeks before,’ she confessed.
I was taken aback since I was mentally prepared to learn I came in second. In fact, I had already accepted this outcome mentally.
Following her victory announcement, she confessed, “As a mother, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret. It seemed to me, ‘Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, no, I’m thrilled with second place! He won!'”
Alternatively,
Upon being declared the winner, she confessed that as a mother, she couldn’t shake off a sense of regret. It was like saying, “Oh, no, no, no, no, no, I’m content with second! He won!
I believe he would have felt the same way. He is simply someone so charming and lovable, I wish I could have experienced this moment with him.
I suspect he would feel the same way in his shoes. He’s just such a delightful person to be around, it’s a shame I couldn’t share this with him.

After being unmasked she said that she felt her win was the ‘career comeback’ she was waiting for.
In 2004, Wilson gained widespread recognition when her first single “Redneck Woman” was released, which eventually helped her debut album achieve a 5x platinum certification.
‘I’ve had a rough couple of years. I was injured. I was in a wheelchair,’ she said.
‘And there was a moment where I didn’t think I’d ever get back to this place,’ Wilson admitted.
Through diligent effort and fervent prayers, I made significant progress. Yet, this chance I encountered has underscored for me the limits of what I cannot achieve. In essence, it reaffirmed that there’s practically no obstacle I can’t surmount.
