Gregg Wallace hits back at sexual misconduct claims in latest online rant as sacked MasterChef star insists no one came forward during BBC investigation

On a Monday, Gregg Wallace, formerly of MasterChef, defended himself against allegations of sexual misconduct and questionable behavior that occurred during his tenure on the program. He asserted his innocence in this matter.

Wallace’s long-term career prospects appear unclear following the premature end of his 19-year stint on the show, as decided by his BBC bosses in 2024.

Further examination of the conduct displayed by the former greengrocer on set revealed that most of the confirmed accusations involved inappropriate sexual remarks and jokes.

In addition, it was confirmed that there were fewer instances of improper language, inappropriate exposure, and one case of unwanted physical touch, all of which were found to be genuine.

On Monday, a resolute Wallace, aged 60, expressed his stance on Instagram, firmly denying the accusations. He asserted that during the period of investigation, no one lodged complaints regarding any inappropriate sexual behavior.

He mentioned that there were allegations of sexual harassment against him, but he believes the information he is going to share might astound you. During a thorough investigation lasting approximately half a year, no proof of sexual harassment was found.

Were you aware that this issue wasn’t discussed during the initial investigation? Given all the information you’ve gathered so far, isn’t it striking to you that it didn’t come up before?

During his latest appearance, Wallace seemed to echo statements previously made by the dismissed host on Instagram, asserting that no evidence was discovered against him despite allegations that he dropped his pants during an investigation.

He explained that there were no reports or evidence found in the investigation suggesting he had taken his trousers down in public.

Any assertion contradicting the findings of the investigation report is incorrect, regardless of its source.

Let me clarify again, there’s no evidence from the investigation that I lowered my pants in front of anyone. If anyone claims otherwise based on the report, they are mistaken.

‘I hope that clears it all up for you.’

Recently, Wallace defended himself against comparisons to controversial figures like Jimmy Savile and Huw Edwards, emphasizing that he is not known for inappropriate behaviors such as groping, being a sexual harasser, or exposing himself.

In response to numerous accusations of unacceptable conduct, such as exposing himself to staff, Wallace expressed heartfelt apologies to everyone he may have caused distress or harm to, with tears in his eyes.

After losing his job at the BBC due to the complaints against him, Wallace tearfully expressed the pain he and his family have endured, asserting that he felt unjustly criticized under public scrutiny.

In simpler terms, he admitted to some of his actions potentially causing offense and not being appropriate for social norms. However, he strongly asserted that he is not someone who intentionally does wrong.

I don’t behave inappropriately towards people, such as groping or making suggestive gestures. Contrary to what some may believe, I do not lower my pants and expose myself – that is not who I am. People seem to think I’m a predator of sorts. However, let me be clear: I am not.

Wallace expressed horror at being compared to infamous sexual offenders Savile and Edwards, and confessed that he felt frightened to venture outdoors due to fear of potential harassment on the streets.

He maintained that he isn’t seeking to portray himself as a victim, but admitted that part of his controversial actions may be linked to his autism diagnosis, since it often causes difficulties in understanding and interpreting other people’s emotions, making him appear unusual on occasion.

Previously, the host likewise justified disclosures about not wearing undergarments during the culinary program, attributing it to his heightened sensitivity caused by a specific health issue.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve had the privilege of assisting over 4,000 individuals in their personal growth journey, and I’m thrilled to share that an incredibly small percentage – only half of one percent – have ever raised concerns about my work with them.

I wholeheartedly admit that my behaviors stem from a blend of upbringing and workplace norms, but there’s another crucial factor at play – my recent autism diagnosis. This revelation has shed light on aspects of my personality that were previously misunderstood, helping me better understand myself and navigate through life as an ardent fan of self-awareness.

He acknowledged, “I understand that I might seem unusual at times. I often find it challenging to understand others’ emotions and behaviors. It’s not uncommon for people to view me as strange. However, it’s important to remember that being diagnosed with autism means I have a recognized disability.

Since then, Wallace has encountered criticism from autism organizations due to comparable statements, with certain parties suggesting that he employs autism as a justification for his alleged inappropriate actions.

Seema Flower, the founder of Blind Ambition – a consulting firm focused on disabilities, expressed to BBC News that it’s completely unjustifiable to behave insensitively towards individuals within our society.

Wallace has stated in the past that he felt the BBC lacked adequate support for his health issues during his 20 years of work on MasterChef. (Paraphrased)

Wallace mentioned that his unique way of thinking, which was later officially identified as autism, had been noticed and talked about by his colleagues during multiple seasons of MasterChef.

For more than two decades, no action was taken to look into my disability or ensure my safety in what has since become clear was an unsafe setting.

In the course of the interview, Wallace stood up for his ex-co-host, John Torode, by stating publicly that he is not prejudiced or biased towards any race.

It was found, following an investigation conducted by law firm Lewis Silkin, that Torode had used offensive language with racist undertones, which was one of the accusations against him regarding his behavior towards co-presenter Wallace.

Torode stated that he couldn’t remember the specific event, and expressed both shock and sadness upon hearing the accusation.

In response to accusations against John Torode, Wallace asserted to The Sun, “I’ve been friends with John for three decades, and I can assure you he is not a bigot.
