Never let it be said that Grant Denyer isn’t afraid to go the extra mile for his craft.
The friendly TV host, who is 48 years old, recently did this on the latest episode of Channel Nine’s TopKnotz.
Grant and his TopKnotz teammates – Miguel Maestre, Tom Williams, Rob Palmer, and Felicity Palmateer – competed in a series of water challenges in Fiji on Thursday night.
Having enjoyed some incredible surfing in Fiji, the group relaxed at Seventh Heaven, a stylish bar and restaurant that floats in the middle of the beautiful Mamanuca Islands.
Chef Miguel made pizzas in the kitchen and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings.
The group decided to jump into the bright blue water from a diving board on top of the floating bar, calling it their ‘leap of faith’.
Grant was the last one to take on the challenge and he was definitely not shy in his attempt.
Without batting an eyelid, Grant began to strip off until he was completely naked.
He asked the production team if they were ready, then began to undress, taking off his shirt, shorts, and underwear.
‘Here we go,’ Grant added with a cheeky grin before running off to take the plunge.
Grant wasn’t shy about appearing nude, but producers thankfully decided to censor his nudity on screen.
His brazen display proved smart, however, with his co-stars declaring Grant the challenge winner.
Grant recently spoke out about his rock bottom moment amid his harrowing addiction battle.
I’ve always admired Howie Mandel, and I was so saddened to learn about his struggles. It was incredibly tough for him – he actually broke his back in a monster truck accident way back in 2008, and that led to a really public battle with painkiller addiction. He’s been so open about it, and it’s inspiring to see him doing so well now.
The accident severely injured Grant, shattering a vertebra into eleven fragments, and doctors weren’t sure if he’d ever be able to walk again.
In a July interview on the Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren show, Grant openly shared the moment he felt his lowest point.
‘In the addiction for some reason that night, I wanted scotch,’ he continued.
I used to live in a city-center apartment. One night, I wandered out in just my underwear, completely disoriented and desperate for a drink, and ended up getting lost.
Grant shared that his wife, Chezzi, searched for him for three hours before finding him asleep on a fire escape, next to human waste.
Grant confessed he was in terrible shape – he could hardly walk – and had become lost inside the building. After three hours, a woman found him asleep on the fire escape, curled up in a corner, feeling helpless and disoriented, and unfortunately, near someone else’s waste.
I woke up on the ground, wearing only my underwear, completely lost, and to make things worse, someone had defecated on the fire escape.
‘I just try and remember that if I ever think I’m slipping.’
