Grammy-winning rapper, 54, is unrecognizable as he wins 3rd place in Muscle Beach competition

Lil Jon looked unrecognizable after showing off his latest venture and body transformation.

On Monday, the 54-year-old hip-hop artist competed for the first time as a bodybuilder at the Muscle Beach competition held in Los Angeles.

In a men’s physique competition for those over 45, he ended up finishing in third position, demonstrating the results of his dedication and efforts at the gym.

At the contest, the award-winning musician spoke candidly about transforming his habits and the dedication he exhibited while sculpting his physique as a bodybuilder.

He shared with reporters at the event, as reported by ABC7 Los Angeles, that his recent progress has been demanding, particularly in terms of gym workouts, commitment to diet, and mental focus. He emphasized that merely participating and adopting a healthier lifestyle, both mentally and physically, was already considered a victory for him.

The Turn Down for What hitmaker also said he hopes to inspire other people.

‘I hope that by sharing my experiences, I might inspire others who think they don’t have the time or ability to achieve their goals to realize that they, too, can make it happen.’

Additionally, Jay Galvin, the rapper’s personal trainer, posted a congratulatory message on his social media platforms to acknowledge the rapper’s achievement.

The fitness influencer also frequently shares videos of Lil Jon’s workouts in the gym.

Towards the end of August, he posted a video where he was exercising on a treadmill. He also mentioned that he does ‘fasting exercise’ as part of his workout routine.

Working out while in a fasted state (meaning you haven’t eaten before your exercise routine) is often suggested as a way to boost weight loss by increasing your heart rate. This practice is known as fasted cardio.

For approximately a year now, Lil Jon has been openly documenting his health and fitness progress on various social media platforms, particularly by regularly uploading workout clips onto Instagram.

I’ve made a significant shift in my lifestyle, trading my party days for a health and fitness journey. I’ve been sharing this transformation on social media platforms, showing how I’m making changes for the better. Moreover, I’ve been hosting guided meditation sessions for my followers, aiming to inspire them as they walk their own paths towards wellness.

In February 2024, he released a 10-track guided meditation album titled Total Meditation. 

Upon reaching my golden 50th year, I embarked on a journey of transformation. Instead of letting the noise of life consume me, I turned to meditation as a means to silence my restless thoughts.

Last year, when he turned 50, he looked back at his life, his marriage, and various aspects, and expressed his intention to move forward and overcome those challenges, as he shared with NPR.

He has even cut out drinking amid his health and fitness journey. 

He continues to perform as a DJ at nightclubs, and when queried about his work atmosphere, he shared that clubbing can offer therapeutic benefits.

‘You have to look at the club as a release,’ he explained. 

‘There are individuals who thrive in social environments, enjoying the company of others. For some, the presence of friends and loved ones is particularly important.’

He also mentioned that music and dancing are therapeutic. They benefit both the mind and the soul, so he finds them helpful for himself. In other words, he can continue to enjoy them.
