Grammy Winner Lupillo Rivera Breaks Down and Quits Reality Show Over ‘Critical’ Health Scare
On this week’s episode of the Mexican reality series “La Casa de los Famosos All Stars”, Lupillo Rivera, a renowned singer from Mexico and America, made an unexpected disclosure.
On the Telemundo series, the 53-year-old Grammy winner, noticeably moved, fought back tears as he informed his co-stars that he was leaving the show because of a yet undisclosed health matter.
Due to health issues that require immediate attention, he regretfully announced that he would have to withdraw from ‘La Casa de los Famosos All Stars.’ His emotions made it challenging for him to communicate clearly, as reported by Deadline.
In a reality TV show reminiscent of Big Brother, the other contestants showed obvious worry, and some even began to well up with tears as they watched Rivera becoming emotional.
He went on, finding it hard to speak. “I’ve truly enjoyed our time together,” he said. “There have been difficult times that I apologize for, especially to the team behind this production.
In a moment of intense emotion, I couldn’t help but let out my frustration as I pounded the floor, all the while struggling to find the right words to express myself.

As a passionate devotee, I adore this captivating game. The thrill of victory and the lessons of defeat both hold equal charm for me. Weaving intricate debates only adds to my affection. This treasure will be deeply missed when I’m away.
Afterward, Rivera dabbed away his tears while he circled the room to embrace his worried co-stars, a few of whom were also shedding tears along with him.
Immediately following his departure from the filming location, a few of his colleagues are said to have remarked that he seemed unwell in the days preceding his sudden declaration.
On Wednesday’s show, his appearance didn’t seem out of the ordinary, except for the intense emotions that burst forth.
As a loyal fan, I can’t help but acknowledge that Rivera has truly shone among the stellar cast during the All-Stars seasons. His strategic alliances with fellow stars Paulo Quevedo and Luca Onestini have undeniably contributed to his remarkable success.
The trio was dubbed ‘PaLuLu,’ a combination of the first two letters of their first names.
Born in Long Beach, California, Rivera has been a consistent figure on the Billboard Latin and Regional Mexican music charts, earning him a Grammy award in 2010 for the Best Banda Album (his 2009 LP “Tu Esclavo y Amo”).
The performer isn’t new to the world of reality TV shows; they were part of season four on “La Casa de los Famosos” in the past and have reappeared for the ongoing All Stars edition, which features some renowned celebrities who were contestants in previous seasons.

2019 saw him take on the role as a coach for La Voz Mexico, the country’s adaptation of the globally renowned singing contest series, The Voice.
Nine contestants remain after Rivera departed, with four more set to be ousted before the final event.
Apart from Rivera’s friends Onestini and Quevedo, Alfredo Adame, Dania Méndez, Luis Alberto Ordaz, Patricia Navidad, Niurka Marcos, Manelyk González, Carlos Antonio Cruz, and Rosa Caiafa are all still contenders.
In the final episode, the last three competitors stand a chance to win cash-filled briefcases. The victor gets $200,000, the one who comes second receives $100,000, and the third-place winner will take home $50,000.
