Grammy Award-winning pop rock band’s drummer shocks fans as he QUITS to pursue an entirely different career
As a dedicated follower of Imagine Dragons for over a decade, I must say I was taken aback by Daniel Platzman’s decision to leave the band after such a remarkable journey. His departure feels like losing a dear friend who shared the same passion for music as me.
On Wednesday, the news broke that the drummer from Imagine Dragons is leaving the band to focus on a completely new profession.
Daniel Platzman revealed he had left the band after 13 years in an Instagram post.
Posting a picture of the quartet performing live, Daniel, aged 37, publicly declared his departure and hinted at future endeavors he has planned for his fans.
He wrote: ‘After an incredible journey of over a decade, I will be departing the amazing band that is Imagine Dragons.
I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you, the fans, for your constant support and for joining me in the delight of music.

Engaging with everyone here has undeniably been the best part of this phase. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be revealing more details shortly regarding the endeavors I’ve been deeply immersed in for the past few months, which revolve around my most fervent interest: film scoring and composition.
‘I promise you’ll be the first to know. Stay tuned.’
Without a trace of suspicion or conflict, all three remaining members expressed their backing by commenting on Daniel’s post.
Lead vocalist Dan Reynolds, aged 37, expressed: “I love you Platz! I’m eagerly anticipating the wonders that the future will bring you ♥️.”
I’d be thrilled to discover where your extraordinary skill will lead you next. Wishing you all the success!
Ben McKee, aged 39 who plays the keyboard, expressed: ‘I love you, Platz! I’m excited to create more Cat Boiz tunes together in the future. ❤️❤️❤️.’
Back in 2008, I became part of an extraordinary musical journey alongside Dan Reynolds, Andrew Beck, Dave Lemke, Andrew Tolman, and the talented Aurora Florence, as we came together to form Imagine Dragons.
Wayne joined shortly afterwards with Ben, and Daniel joined 2011.
In 2009, all three members – Andrew Beck, Dave, and Aurora – departed from Imagine Dragons. Specifically, Andrew exited the band along with his spouse, Brittany Tolman, who had joined Imagine Dragons that same year, in 2009. However, it’s worth noting that Andrew left again in 2011.
Theresa Flaminio was also briefly in the band in 2011.

Imagine Dragons have released six albums in their 16-year run.
The significant milestone for them was achieved through their first album, Night Visions (released in 2012). This album produced popular tracks like Radioactive and Demons, which climbed to the top of the US music charts.
Radioactive, previously recognized as the longest-running track on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top rock anthem of the year by Rolling Stone.
Imagine Dragons are well-known for being deeply committed to various social causes, including mental health advocacy, promoting musical education, and aiding the Ukrainian people.
