Gradius Origins Collection Brings Classic Shmup Action to Xbox Series X|S This August

Konami is set to launch the “Gradius Origins” collection, which brings together classic titles from the famous 2D shoot ’em up series that date back to the early 1980s. The collection will hit shelves in August, and you can pre-order it right now.

Besides gathering multiple editions of Gradius I, II, and III, the Gradius Origins collection will additionally offer Salamander I and II, as well as Life Force. A fresh installment titled Salamander III is also included, furthering the narrative following the Salamander Wars that have been ongoing since the initial game’s release in 1986.

Once again, Bacterian troops are attacking planet Lattice, leading to a fighter pilot joining forces with the Salamanders against this threat, accompanied by the Big Viper – Type R. This new game, titled “Salamander III,” is a long-awaited return after 15 years, and it promises a nostalgic 1990s feel with 2D sprites, power-ups, and diverse backdrops across six different stages.

Each of the seven games (along with their respective 18 regional variations) come equipped with several user-friendly enhancements. These include time-travel options through rewind capabilities, efficient save and load functions for quick gameplay, improved hit detection sensitivity, online rankings to compare scores, and additional features.

On the 7th of August, Gradius Origins is set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers (PC).
