Gospel singer Le’Andria Johnson says she’s ‘still growing’ after public drunkenness arrest
As a long-time devotee of the arts, particularly music and television, I find it disheartening to see talented individuals struggle with personal demons. The stories of Le’Andria Johnson, Morgan Wallen, and even fictional characters like Carmy Berzatto from “The Bear” serve as stark reminders that addiction knows no boundaries, not even those within the creative sphere.
Le’Andria Johnson recently reached out to her supporters with a statement, following her arrest this past week in Greenville, South Carolina, due to an intoxicated incident at a local watering hole.
Music
Morgan Wallen was found guilty, following his conditional plea, for an incident involving him hurling a chair off a sixth-floor balcony in Nashville. This event led to the charges against him.
In a video shared on the Larry Reid Live YouTube channel on Tuesday, the artist known for “Better Days” expressed her gratitude for the messages of support following her arrest. She also mentioned that she’s using this moment to relax and find calm, utilizing the phrase “taking time to ‘woosah’.
As I’ve been navigating this journey for quite some time, I find myself continually evolving, much like a character in a film unfolding its plot. For years, I’ve stood before church congregations and various media platforms, sharing my struggle with alcoholism – a story that, it seems, is still being written.
“So just keep me lifted, and I’m a get through this,” she added.
Television
In essence, children who have parents with alcoholism may exhibit similar behaviors, regardless of their own drinking habits. This is vividly portrayed by the main character, Carmy Berzatto, in Season 3 of FX’s “The Bear.
Johnson was taken into police custody around 3 p.m. Monday and charged with public intoxication and possession of an open container, according to an incident report from the Greenville Police Department. She was released from detention the next day and given a personal recognizance bond on her charges, Greenville Public Information Officer Sgt. Diana Munoz confirmed Wednesday.
The authorities arrested Johnson following a tip-off that he was creating a commotion and shouting at other customers at BrickTop’s restaurant, which is situated in the downtown district, according to the police report.
As per the report, officers found and tracked down Johnson following her departure from BrickTop’s and moving along the street, where she was overheard shouting offensive language at a man she was walking with.
As police approached her, Johnson gave a Styrofoam cup to a man who tried to conceal it, according to the report. After noticing several indications of extreme intoxication – the smell of alcohol, slurred words, and wobbly stance – officers determined that the cup held alcohol and chose to discard it.
Entertainment & Arts
According to reports, Garrett Hedlund is said to have been discharged from a Tennessee prison following an arrest due to drunkenness in public. It’s worth mentioning that he and Emma Roberts have parted ways recently.
The “Sunday Best” victor was arrested and initially booked on a $257.50 bond, which she does not have to pay “on the condition that she show up to court,” Munoz said in a statement to The Times.
If Johnson asks for a jury trial, “she won’t need to show up in court until the scheduled jury trial date, which might not occur until next year,” Munoz explained.
