Gorka Marquez Opens Up About Balancing Family Life and Career Struggles

Gorka Marquez from Strictly Come Dancing has shared his challenges in managing his personal life and successful profession, asserting that it’s indeed a difficult task.

The professional dancer from Spain, aged 34, who began appearing on the BBC program in 2016, frequently finds himself with a busy schedule as a result of his job obligations.

Discussing his strategy for juggling various responsibilities while still finding joy, Gorka (father to Mia and Thaigo with Gemma Atkinson) emphasizes the importance of making wise decisions.

‘When I was in my 20s, it was just about me, me, me,’ he told the Mirror.

He went on to say: ‘It’s less complicated since there isn’t much else to concern yourself with beyond your own well-being.’

When you’re involved with a spouse and kids, occasionally, work can be fantastic. I often remark that while there’s a distinction between prioritizing work over life and arranging work to complement your lifestyle.

Over the course of his career, Gorka has collaborated with well-known figures such as Katie Piper, Maisie Smith, and Helen Skelton.

However, he has emphasized that it is essential to strike a balance between dedicating effort to work and spending quality time with his spouse and kids.

Gorka acknowledges that his loved ones hold the highest importance, and he emphasizes that we can never regain lost time. His goal is to make wise decisions.

He mentioned that at times he fears he might overlook opportunities that may not recur, and it’s crucial to evaluate whether the distance or prolonged stay is justified.

His disclosure follows the disappointment of Strictly Come Dancing fans, who were underwhelmed when Gorka and partner Karen Hauer pulled out of their performance at Cheltenham, only a few hours prior to taking the stage.

Karen, a dancer from Venezuela, along with her fellow Strictly dance partner Gorka, have embarked on a global tour with their captivating Speakeasy show. Recently, they shared the exciting update about this tour via a written post on their Instagram account.

Gorka expressed his regret for not being able to fulfill fan expectations due to unforeseen technical issues that made their performance unsafe.

‘We are so upset to have the curtain pulled down on tonight’s show.

For the entire afternoon, we’ve been at the location encountering technical issues that raised significant safety questions. We’ve exhausted every possible solution, but unfortunately, it seems we won’t be able to perform tonight.

They added: ‘Undoubtedly, the safety of our organization is paramount, and this choice isn’t within our power. We eagerly look forward to seeing you again soon. The organizers will reach out to those who have tickets.’

The cancelled show follows Gemma Atkinson, Gorka’s fiancée, expressing no remorse about her previous lively lifestyle before tying the knot with the beloved contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

The actress, aged forty, initially gained prominence portraying the sultry character Lisa Hunter on Hollyoaks. More recently, she’s been vocal about health and wellness, demonstrating a challenging workout routine.
