“Gorgeous viewing”: 7 underrated Hannah Waddingham dramas to watch now on Netflix, ITV, BBC and more

Hannah Waddingham was already a successful stage actress, and then she won fans over with her role in Ted Lasso. But beyond that, she’s been in a lot of fantastic, lesser-known dramas that deserve a watch!

We’ve been watching a lot of Hannah Waddingham’s past work so we could recommend her best shows to you. Whether you enjoy crime dramas like Partners in Crime or thrillers like The Woman in Cabin 10, there’s plenty to choose from. Here are seven often-overlooked Hannah Waddingham dramas we think you’ll love, available on Netflix, ITV, the BBC, and other platforms.

Tom Jones

This series is based on Henry Fielding’s famous novel, and tells the love story of Sophia Western, a rich young woman (played by Sophie Wilde), and Tom Jones, a man of more modest means (played by Solly McLeod).

What to Read Next

So, things aren’t exactly going smoothly for my character’s love life, and it’s all because of my aunt! She’s seriously determined to break up my relationship with Tom, and honestly, it’s making me wonder if love can really overcome any obstacle. It’s a classic setup, but super tense in the game right now!

Tom Jones is available to watch on ITVX.

Murder, They Hope

I just finished watching Murder, They Hope and seriously, everyone needs to check it out! It’s a really funny crime show, and Hannah Waddingham is absolutely brilliant as Chief Inspector Henrietta Shephard. She comes in to help these two wonderfully clumsy private detectives, Gemma and Terry, try to catch a pretty creepy serial killer. She totally steals every scene she’s in!

The main issue is that Chief Inspector Shephard isn’t a natural police officer – she’s quite cowardly, which often defines her actions.

Benidorm

Hannah Waddingham is brilliantly funny as Tonya Dyke in the comedy series Benidorm. The show follows British tourists, including Tonya, who get into amusing trouble while staying at an all-inclusive resort in Spain.

The actress shines in her comedic role as Tonya, a loving and fiercely protective mother who sometimes treats her children as if they were still very young. She also enjoys playfully teasing her short-tempered husband, Clive Dyke (Perry Benson).

Be prepared to laugh so hard you might just shed a tear.

All 10 series of Benidorm are available to watch on ITVX.

Partners in Crime

Hannah Waddingham is known for her amazing performances, and she truly shines as the Blonde Assassin in Partners in Crime. The show centers on the adventurous Tuppence (Jessica Raine) and her more reserved husband, Tommy (David Walliams), who unexpectedly find themselves caught up in a world of murder, spies, and Cold War secrets in 1950s Britain.

If the show seems somewhat familiar, it’s because it’s inspired by the characters Tommy and Tuppence from Agatha Christie’s novels. It’s difficult to think of two stronger British actresses, making this pairing a perfect fit.

You can watch Partners in Crime on BBC iPlayer.

Winter Ridge

This gripping psychological thriller features Hannah Waddingham as Dr. Joanne Hill, a mental health expert drawn into a murder case. Police seek her help when they realize a serial killer is operating in a peaceful seaside town, targeting similar victims.

Dr. Hill works alongside DCI John Faulkner, played by Michael McKell, and the ambitious detective Ryan Barnes, portrayed by Matt Hookings. Barnes is deeply invested in the case, as his wife is still in a coma following a serious car accident.

Winter Ridge is available to watch on Prime Video.

Krypton

Though known for other roles, Hannah Waddingham shines in the sci-fi series Krypton, demonstrating her impressive range as an actress.

The show centers on Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), Superman’s grandfather, and his struggle to restore his family’s reputation and prevent the destruction of Krypton. Gwendoline Waddingham plays Jax-Ur, a brilliant scientist who once thrived on Krypton but now seeks to drastically reshape the planet.

You can watch Krypton on ITVX.

The Woman in Cabin 10

If you enjoy thrilling and suspenseful stories, you’ll want to check out The Woman in Cabin 10. This drama, based on the popular novel by Ruth Ware, follows journalist Laura Blacklock (Keira Knightley) who witnesses a murder while on a cruise.

The problem is, no one on the ship believes her, not even Heidi, the sophisticated passenger played by Hannah Waddingham. The story is full of unexpected surprises and plot twists.

The Woman in Cabin 10 is available to watch on Netflix.

The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
