As a die-hard fan of culinary arts and a connoisseur of British celebrity feuds, I find myself utterly captivated by the decade-long saga between Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver. Growing up in the heart of Scotland, I’ve lived and breathed the rich tapestry of British gastronomy for as long as I can remember. And let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of a good rivalry to spice things up!
For over a decade, the renowned British chefs, Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver, have found themselves at odds.
Yet surprisingly, Ramsay acknowledged the cooking talent of his competitor, revealing that his wife Tana admires Oliver and often employs his cookbooks to prepare their meals at home.
As a devoted admirer, I’m always eager to hear about the culinary world’s inner workings, and recently, I found myself particularly intrigued by the kitchen confessions of my beloved chef. In an engaging conversation on the Dish podcast, hosted by the esteemed Angela Harnett – a cherished friend and fellow gastronome – this Michelin-winning maestro shared insights about his partner’s peculiar habit: whipping up meals inspired by the legendary Oliver!
Ms. Harnett, aged 55, mentioned: ‘When Tana meets me after I’ve visited for dinner, she appears very laid-back. However, why does she need to change her demeanor?’

‘She’s got five kids and she’s got him (Ramsay) hanging around trying to interfere and she’s just out and she just cooks something everyone wants to eat, like a great lasagne or a brilliant shepherd’s pie. She’s amazing.’
Ramsay subsequently interjects with a chuckle, “By the way, it’s all Jamie Oliver recipes. Let me tell you, that’s quite a challenge for me!”
The conflict between the chefs started back in 2009, as Oliver, aged 49 at that time, took issue with Ramsay’s remark likening Australian journalist Tracey Grimshaw to a pig.
Ramsay apologised to Ms Grimshaw but said the Naked Chef was a ‘one pot wonder’.
Instead, Oliver playfully teased his competitor about supposedly getting Botox injections, and said, “If I had to pick between Gordon Ramsay’s cookbook and Tana Ramsay’s, I’d go for Tana’s cookbook every single time.”
‘In my opinion, her books are a damn sight better than his.’
In 1996, Ramsay wed Tana, who was then 49 years old, and they have collectively raised six children. Meanwhile, Ramsay’s long-time partner, Jools, aged 49, has five children with him, having been married for 25 years.

Nevertheless, when Oliver’s restaurant chain failed in 2019, Ramsay disclosed that he reached out to his TV-chef colleague immediately, stating: ‘The essence is, he’s an outstanding individual and exceptional chef. It was unfortunate to witness him vanish swiftly, but we shared a drink during challenging times.’
The chef added the families barbecued together while on holiday together in Cornwall in 2018.
