Good Omens star confirms return for season 3

Actress Doon Mackichan, known for her role in Good Omens, has affirmed that she will once again take on her character for the series’ concluding full-length episode.

In a return for the last hurrah of the supernatural series, Mackichan, portraying Archangel Michael, is set to make an appearance. This finale, a 90-minute episode, was originally planned as season three but will now take its place instead. The actor himself has also shared that filming for this new installment will happen next year.

After winning the Best Actress award at the BAFTA Scotland Awards for her role as Cathy in Two Doors Down, Mackichan expressed on Instagram: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have received this BAFTA in Glasgow yesterday. I dedicated it to our late writer, Simon Carlysle, and honored Cathy’s spirit!

Regarding Good Omens, the Scottish actor shared: “I’m pleased to announce I’ll return to my beloved city in January for more filming of Good Omens.

Filming for the series featuring David Tennant and Michael Sheen portraying characters Crowley (demon) and Aziraphale (angel), respectively, was put on hold in September due to a major restructuring of the production process.

The producer Neil Gaiman, known for creating the show, chose to step away after facing allegations of inappropriate behavior. However, he firmly maintains his innocence against these charges.

Previously, the lead writer played a part in drafting the last script, but he is no longer part of the show’s ongoing production. In October this year, his company, The Blank Corporation, stepped away from the project.

In August, Sheen hinted at some behind-the-scenes details about the final episode, tantalizing fans with promises of a fulfilling resolution for the series.

Speaking with TV Insider in August, he shared that one remarkable aspect of being involved in [Good Omens]] is the dedicated audience, the fans, the community around it. It’s crucial to approach it with great care because it deeply impacts them.

Not only did the conclusion of season 2 elicit an extraordinary response, but I am confident that season 3 will provide a fulfilling viewing experience for all.
