Good Morning Britain’s ‘fan-favourite host survives the axe amid ITV bloodbath as bosses make huge cuts to daytime slate’

One of the well-liked hosts on Good Morning Britain has managed to avoid being let go during ITV’s round of budget reductions.

The broadcast network announced significant reductions to its daytime programming schedule, resulting in over 220 job cuts. Shows like “Lorraine” and “Loose Women” may be temporarily discontinued for half a year as part of these cost-cutting measures.

However, despite concerns that some prominent figures from GMB might be let go, it appears that one specific personality has been assured they will retain their position on the show.

Richard Arnold, a frequent host of the entertainment segment, has been informed that he will continue to be part of the show.

A source told The Sun: ‘Richard is one of ITV daytime’s best-loved faces never mind on GMB.

‘Viewers enjoy his slots and he remains very much part of the furniture.’

It is also believed that the team of producers, Andrew Bullock, Martin Dixon, and Elle Vickery, affectionately referred to within the company as ‘RAP’ (Richard Arnold Producers), are likewise secure in this situation.

TopMob has contacted representatives for Good Morning Britain for comment.

In May, it was announced that Adil Ray might be let go from Good Morning Britain due to cost-cutting efforts being implemented.

The host’s tenure on the program has been clouded by controversy, with allegations such as being labeled ‘woke’ and ‘criticizing’ darts champion Luke Littler based on his weight.

ITV did not deny that Ray was in trouble amid a huge cost-saving exercise at the channel.

After Ben Shephard left the program, Adil started hosting Fridays on a rotating basis and co-hosts the show with either Kate Garraway or Charlotte Hawkins on those days.

However, according to sources within ITV, after a gathering of top ITV executives, including daytime head Emma Gormley, it appears that Adil may be let go.

Previously, it had been revealed that due to cost-cutting efforts at ITV, Good Morning Britain (GMB) will be lengthened by a full thirty minutes during the weeks when Lorraine is not being broadcast.

The responsibility for creating our premier morning program will shift to ITV News, located within the ITN headquarters on London’s Gray’s Inn Road.

According to reports, approximately thirteen roles are predicted to be eliminated from the shared back-office positions between GMB and ITV News. These roles are believed to be redundant due to duplication within their respective teams. The estimated savings from these cuts could reach up to £50 million for ITV.

According to reports, Laura Wilshaw, editor of ITV News, apparently shared with her team that the production of their show will be managed under a more limited total financial plan.

Additionally, it has come to light that the current Deputy Editor, Daniel Robinson, will take on the role of Programme Editor for Good Morning Britain moving forward.

Neil Thompson, the current long-standing editor, will assume a new prominent position as Breakfast News’ Commissioning Editor.

Lorraine, the host, will be impacted by ITV’s reductions as Good Morning Britain is set to air in her usual 9-10 am time slot for approximately 22 weeks annually.

For the final 30 weeks of this year, Lorraine will be hosting the show every weekday, which means Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard’s stand-ins for Fridays are no longer required for the program.

Lorraine’s show has also been slashed in half, now running for just 30 minutes from 9:30am to 10am.

Esteemed television personalities such as Lorraine (aged 65), who boasts a career of more than four decades, are reportedly feeling both angry and offended due to recent changes. Meanwhile, the members of Loose Women are already expressing concern about potential layoffs that may follow this upheaval.

Starting from today and continuing until September, there’s a consultation period during which up to 300 workers may lose their jobs. This is due to the new regime set to start in January. The affected employees will be terminated by December.

According to reports from ITV, they’ve chosen to reduce funding for their daytime programming in order to allocate more resources towards creating more dramatic shows instead.

It’s essential to find ways to cut costs, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately to suitable events, as costs continue to rise, we must carefully examine these aspects.

The source added: ‘Christine and Ranvir remain part of the ITV daytime family.’

This morning, with hosts like Alison Hammond, Ben Shepherd, and Cat Deeley still shining, it’s unchanged for me.
